Nice, creative image. As Mike says, the contrast was handled very well. I wonder how this would work as a metal print, or even a metallic print? Maybe a subtle vignetting? Enjoyable to look at. |

Nice curves, and an interesting idea. Always difficult to expose for bright light and deep shadow in the same picture, but you did it well. At first glance I thought it was some kind of weird rock formation! The sheep moving downhill give a sense of motion from right to left. I love watching the dogs (Border Collies?) perform their wonderful routines. I also often think of the scene from the movie "Far From The Madding Crowd" when the dog drives the whole flock over the cliff. |

Love that sky! I'm going to see if I can dig out my gloves and overcoat... Right now it's about 75 degrees outside... |

First of all, having viewed the original, I was a bit relieved to find out that you had not brushed or cloned out the trees in the original to arrive at the tree in the final! That would have been some project... I see Peggy's point but, assuming you were going after a silhouette shot I'm not sure how much the trunk should have been brightened. I like that the tree and the horizon line and the sun are off center. The treatment of the sky came off well. Good job. |

A very nice idea here, with different representations of man-made things -- the angular grid, the formless appearance of what I think is a pile of dried concrete, and the nature derived pair of old shoes. A nice mix of textures. I do think the fence-like structure tends to overwhelm the picture element in front of it. Maybe you could tone down the background and brighten the shoes and bucket. You do have a pretty good rule of thirds. Overall, very well done. |

I had trouble getting the place mat to come out the way I wanted, so I became a little careless, I guess. Maybe I can rescue this yet. |

Peggy -- there's actually things to like in both versions. The final mixes the realistic feel of the bridge with the suggestion of foliage. Maybe it's just me, but I like the way you brought out the "drama" in the sky in the final. In the original, I feel the "distractions" add a sense of place to the picture. The cropping could go either way. You seemed to have tried a light vignetting to the final, but what would a subtle dark vignette look like? Since it's autumn, a gloomy look would be OK for me, but of course, I reside in south Florida so I don't have to put up with the cold and the gloom! Nice leading lines in both versions. Very nice image(s). |

Well done on the composition. I think the red tree is in a great location and tends to counteract the negative space of the sky in the upper left. This image has an atmospheric feel to it and conveys well the feeling (cold) of winter. It also gives off and era of fairly extreme isolation; if I were in that spot, what would I need to do first to ensure my survival. I wasn't there but was the overall blue-gray color cast, especially in the snow, faithfully recorded? |
