Kaylynn - I'm a member of the Everglades Chapter of the PSA and at our meeting this past Saturday we viewed all the entries of the latest chapter showcase. I saw the images that were part of the Chicago entry and thought that one of the pictures looked familiar and then your name appeared underneath it. It was, of course, your Anything Helps picture from our study group's April round. Congratulations! |

Joe -- I was going back over your original image and was wondering what the result would be if you selected out the flower (and reflection) and the fish from the finished edit but maintained the rest of the image from the original. Maybe the flower and fish would stand out more? |

I examined the image and it seems the trees in the background are in focus, as well as the lily pads in the front, so everything in between should also be in focus. I think what's happening is that the pads toward the back are just running out of resolution because of their relatively small size. Also, Marti might be on to something concerning the angle of the light. The really interesting thing for me is how much difference the polarizer made in bringing out the clouds -- they were pretty much what I saw in the camera viewfinder. |

As with Marti's picture, you can't go wrong with yellow and green. You did a just about perfect color correction -- the new image has great color balance. The reddish stalk and yellow flower in the upper right hand corner might be eliminated, and perhaps a small portion of the bottom could be cropped out. Very pleasing on the eye. |

I like the natural combination of yellow, green and blue (actually two shades). This image gives off an easygoing and tranquil feeling and the tone of the sky is handled just right. The clouds are not blown out. The bushes cut across the horizon line, uniting the overall look. Dust spots in a few locations? |

I agree with Mike on the colors, you did a great job with that. Each of the objects -- the flower (especially) and the fish are nice and sharp, and I like the way they hover around the plant, seemingly very curious. But they seem to be dominated too much by the background and are somewhat lost. The bright green pad in the upper corner is a distraction, in terms of composition. Overall, a nice job. |
