This has some nice things going for it, but the lower left corner doesn't seem to have much from a visual standpoint. The reflection in the street next to the car is nice, but other than that, not too much. In the original the paving stones added a nice touch of texture -- too bad it couldn't have extended into the image more. Peggy's mention of a film noir effect is interesting -- I was wondering how this would look in monochrome. |

I prefer original 1 to original 2 but I prefer the final result most of all. I like the subtle tones and and a bit of mystery that is added. The gazebo is framed beautifully and there is not doubt left as to what the subject is in this picture. There is no distracting elements to draw your eye away from the gazebo, and it is well placed in the composition. I feel original 1 is somewhat over-saturated, assuming my monitor is calibrated well enough. Maybe you could experiment with slightly saturating the final, but not to the extent of #1. Great image! |

Very nice result. With a 50 mm lens, I would think you could afford to lower the shutter speed some more without worrying about blurring. But no matter, everything came out right. My first priority, with every angle out of whack with the surrounding ones, is which angle to use as "plumb." Not an easy decision, but I think you did well.
Nice alternating of exposure one room to the next, and obviously a great line leading toward the back. This would make a nice gallery piece, or simply look great hanging on a wall in your home. Just out of curiosity, what are the dimensions of the doorways?
PS -- I also like the way the leading line is off center, and that adds to the composition overall. |

This picture is kind of a contrasting reply to Peggy's image in that it shows a repeating pattern of natural shapes as opposed to the geometric man made shapes in her picture. Even though the downed tree is dead, from a visual angle it looks like some kind of alien organism reaching out to grab at the brush in the background. The branch at the right is a bit too distracting and leads away from the the main subject. Perhaps you could eliminate the top half of that branch. Could be an interesting, almost sinister, Halloween picture, sort of in the vein of The Blair Witch Project. |

What I really like about this image is that it can be seen as both a city scape and a presentation of geometric forms. For some reason it doesn't bother me that the bridge in the foreground seems to dissect the composition -- perhaps it's because the forms of the buildings carry through the bridge structure and in that way unites the top and bottom elements of the picture. There is a nice line formed by the two bridges and the river receding toward the structures in the back. The people on the bridge (joggers?) give scale to the immensity of the various building projects seen in the area. Beautiful colors. Very nice visual demonstration of human engineering. Also optimistic in that there is at least a hint of what large urban areas can be become. |

Interesting composition with the line between Cheryl and the moon which lends mystery to the picture. From what I can tell it looks like you did a fine job masking her hair, which can be a real challenge. Very nice coloring. Kind of has an Andrew Wyeth feel to it with an enigmatic expression on her face being watched over by the moon. I thought at first there might be too much space between her and the moon, but on second thought I think not. This can only have a vertical orientation. Great job. |
