50 May 17 Comment Here is my take on the image which is already an excellent capture with subject, contrast and clouds, incidentally. One of the first things I look at is the horizon. I took this to PSCC and straightened the horizon and cropped a little. After that I massaged the whole image with both the color dodge and color burn tools inside the history brush tool. My favorite magical tool in PS. Decided it needed to be sepia toned which you see in my iteration. Good job. May 29th
50 May 17 Comment Yes, the flip does work best. Maybe because I am left eyed ?? ha
The brightness, flatness, and sharpness all work well together. Well done.

50 May 17 Comment Agree, architecture and barns are really cool in monochrome. I like the extra drama, age, and character the mono presents. I took the image to PSCC and played with the history brush color darken and color dodge tools before cropping to diminish the sky as much as possible. Also straightened the vertical lines. The original file had maxed out the shadow detail. HDR may have got you some of that shadow detail back.
I say Good Eye!

50 May 17 Comment For me, this is not a candidate for monochrome. The leaf blends in too much with the rest of the picture. I find the leaf gets lost with the streaming water. May 29th
50 May 17 Comment In my opinion the original skin tones, contrast, and brightness are just right. I would like to see the bokeh brightness toned down since that is right where my eye goes first. Just a thought is to darken the whole background making her face stand out more. A very haunting pose. May 29th
50 May 17 Comment In my view the black background really does make this image interesting. The starfish catches your eye immediately. Contrast, composition and clarity are excellent. Well done. May 29th
50 May 17 Comment No thought of cropping. In my mind it is the two trees that give it a sense of place. It sits right next to the narrow parking area of a road which is heavily traveled. The Ute Indians are rebuilding the museum adjacent. I will post more pics as time goes on. May 29th
50 May 17 Comment Hi, Kathy. Thanks for commenting. My purpose in making this solarization is to make a different monochrome that goes back to the old wet darkroom technique. I simply have not seen this used in the era of digital photography. Incidentally, Linotype is a brand of typesetting machine that is also a thing of the past.
I learned photography in a wet darkroom and made many solarized negatives years ago. This one brought back fun memories.

69 May 17 Reply Respectfully disagree with flipping the image. Flipping it made the light appear to come from beneath the flower. People portraits and flower portraits made with light lower than the object make the object appear unnatural and horrific like. Flipping does the same thing with the water droplets. Very unnatural and uncomfortable. Only shoot a portrait with under light if you want the subject to appear unworldly.

The eye sees things upside down, exactly like you see in a view camera or inside a camera obscura. It is your mind that reverses, top to bottom, the image to make you think you are seeing things right side up. I.e., natural. In my mind, the leaf adds context to the natural light flower image. Thanks for your comment which is appreciated.

69 May 17 Reply Agree, I can blur that in PS. Its on the same plane as what I wanted to leave in focus. Thanks. May 14th
69 May 17 Comment A fantastic image with sharpness, color, contrast and, the Milky Way is sprouting out of the mountain top. Great capture, keep up the good work. Your exposure choice is spot on. One suggestion that may possibly help would be the color dodge settings inside the history brush in Photoshop. You could bring out the foreground. Here is my iteration. Added a PS black picture frame May 14th
69 May 17 Comment The sepia tone, light, works very well in my opinion. I thought it is a little flat combined with empty space on left distracted the story telling aspect. It is a really neat image and, a great "seeing" capture. Good timing. Attaching my iteration, a little retouch with the history brush before cropping to 5x7 aspect ratio. I added a photoshop brown picture frame. Straightened the horizon.

69 May 17 Comment For me this is outstanding right moment capture with action and story telling in the eyes. I also feel the post processing is spot on with color, clarity, and cleaning up the background very well. May 13th
69 May 17 Comment A good eye you have. This is excellent timing, color, composition and clarity. I feel the story telling aspect of the image. Well done. A prixe winner. May 13th
69 May 17 Comment Great image of a beautiful flower, in my opinion. I like the flip suggested by Mervyn and, the version 2 best. The three blooms near the center seem to be the primary focus. For me, they need to be sharp and the remainder of the image thrown slightly out of focus. This is a great use of that sharp 100mm macro lens. May 13th
69 May 17 Comment Patience is a virtue and that really shows with this image. Action is communicated. The color, contrast, and composition are excellent. I do like the light touch of vignetting. I would not change a thing. May 13th
