Thanks guys, next time I am back there will capture the whole door/front. I was really going for the sign as the subject since this is such a classic old steam train place. I tried it sepia which just did not work for me at the time. Ill try again. |

Cindy, what a great still life. I think your use of available light and the tripod shows. I feel your competition, contrast and exposure is spot on. In my mind this is a definite black and white image that is crying for printing, matting and framing with a black 2 inch frame. |

Great image for antique sepia in my view. I like the grain and old film look. It should make an interesting print at 14x11. Your use of a grungy border is terrific and adds to the image. I cannot give any suggestions for help. Good eye. |

Excellent BW photojournalsim sports shots. I know your timing is spot on because you caught the skaters leading leg closest to the camera in front. For help I would suggest more brightness and adding a little more contrast. For me the "original" image doesn't work well because of the busy skaters in the background. These shots are best when they are very simple with clean background. Photoshopping would be a fail for photojournalism usage. You dont say what f/stop. Try it with that 200mm wide open to blur the background. Future reference set the camera on focus tracking and high speed exposure. Keep the button pressed to shoot 20-30-exposures. |

What a very interesting image in my opinion. You can change it to convey mystery and darkness at will. I tried to bring it out more and was not very successful. The tree on left really makes the mood. Leaving the sky light for contrast is perfect. Good job.
David's iteration is very interesting too. |

This works well for me. I would not change a thing. Have you printed it? I would make a print as large as you can on matt paper and hang it on a wall. |

In my view this is a great subject for monochrome. I like your dodging work which was not all that easy to do. Good job with staying inside the dark edges. I do not know if PS Elements has the History Brush tool. It is my favorite tool in place of the dodge tool. I experimented with that in the attached image. I was able to bring out the left side rocks a little more and selectively darken the clouds. |
