This image sparks my imagination and makes a nice story. I see a lot of motion in the clouds; very much like a cauldron. The palm on bottom left acts like a block for me; keeps my eye within the image; but I would crop that left side a tad to remove the space to the left of said palm. Conveniently there's a balancing tree on the right side; another natural block. I like Pierre's lightened exposure & shadow effect on the central trees and golden colors; they seem to make lighter silhouette's and anchor me. Very nice. |

Good suggestions; thanks everyone. Looking forward to a return visit with a wider lens and more attention paid to ISO/f stop. |

The shooting angle was low enough that the arc's of the bridge stand out against the colorful sky making a strong impact. My eye keeps getting drawn to the moored boat bottom right, which is not much of a beauty and keeps taking my wandering eye away from the pretty sunset. I think the composition would be improved by either removing it or relocating it as Lamar suggests. Then crop making the aid to navigation your foreground interest.
Perhaps there's some tweaking to be done with Lightroom HSL sliders to emphasize the golden yellow glow of all the evening lights coming on in the city.
Nice presentation.

This compelling image evokes a stong sense of place and indeed does urge me to travel the West Coast again. I've seen Big Sur but wasn't photographing then; would like to return and get up to see the Oregon coast too.
The composition is pleasing with the S curve, interesting sky and I enjoy Pierre's use of dehaze, opening the shadow details, and bringing out the cliff colors. |
