This sky is painted with lots of triangles drawing my eye down their long sides and together keep my eye within the scene exploring. Shot at 1/15 I don't see cloud motion and f16 allows for some nice sun rays to show. No blown highlights, pleasing tree silhouettes. Images with black edges benefit from a thin single pixel stroke around them showing the viewer where the edges of the image are. There's a definite sense that you caught a moment that says something is coming; something is about to happen. |

I see a triangular foreground, triangular sky, and triangular midground point leading you into the water. Triangles lead the eye nicely; in this case down the line running through the foreground to follow back into scene while tree on left acts as a natural stop keeping my eye within the scene.
Foreground tree has nice detail and frames the scene well keeping me exploring between both trees.
I like the moodiness of the sky; adds motion, drama, and a little conflict to the scene. I do find the sky and mountains have a strong lavender cast. |

I've always wanted to visit Niagara Falls. Beautiful. This view is two images in one but the eye drawing rainbow colors on the left are balanced by the nice tree silhouette on the right. I like the small aperture star burst on the right; it doesn't distract me but acts as a natural eye stop and along with all the distant lights enclose my eye and keep it wandering about studying the falls. |

I like the usage of infrared here and particularly the diagonal line the palms make across the image. I'm put off by the merging cloud and turret and prefer Kathryn's image showing separation between the cloud and the turret, and in fact would try to move that cloud further up enough to "extend" the curving diagonal line of palms. The palms in the lower right are also merging (with the trunk) and need to nudged to the right to separate them and get them on plane with that curve you've got going. I would also consider removing the clouds & uprights that touch the castle as they don't add anything; simpler is better. |
