By the way, I really like Birch Bark Canoe from group three. Have you tried that as a mono? Your waterfall is very nice but the canoe man is a knockout - I want more. |

Hi Isreal - we are all now limited to some extent by quarantine. I too have taken several photo adventures on my own because of travel limitations. You did very well with this interesting and unusual photo - the macro world can be both magical and challenging as a light wind can frustrate the best of us and I am almost always on a tripod that I set low to the ground. Your crop per Bob's suggestion I feel improves you image - keep at it and stay well. Happy Easter.

Nice one Bob. I too have been to Alaska and found it to be some of the most spectacular scenery imaginable. The white mountain peaks give your image some punch and I think you did well by cropping that taller tree tighter to the left but still leaving it in. You have heard that old thing about doing a border patrol, but leaving it as you have done gives some verticality to the image and a sense of perspective. Scenics in black and white are often more impressive than color so this one shows the majesty where a color might not be quite so impressive . At least that's the way I feel about it - nice job. |

Hi LuAnn sorry I'm so late in replying to your very impressive waterfall. I have taken many waterfall images down here in the south. In fact, Alabama has an exceptional number of falls throughout its state parks, but few of this size. Like Bob's comment, I probably would have leaned toward a softer effect on the falls by using a polarizer and pretty much making a tripod essential - doesn't hurt to try both approaches and see which you prefer back at the ranch. The angularity of the rock formation and cropping tighter as you have done really adds a measure of interest. Overall a very nice majestic shot. Do more! |

Hi Oliver - I don't find your color shot boring at all - I like the coolness of the blue shadows contrasted with the orange and yellows of the brush and bench, so it should transfer into a meaningful B&W - which it really did. You nicely brought out the texture in the snow which helped eliminate any boredom. Like LuAnn I detect a little too much sharpening, but overall a beautiful, peaceful winter scene - a scene which we now need. Thanks much. |

Thanks LuAnn - I agree. That spot is a tad too burned out and needs some toning down. This situation sure gives you time to play with Photoshop. I always appreciate your honest and sincere comments - stay safe. |

Hi Pete - I didn't include camera details because they said I had a 13 second exposure, which I somewhat questioned, although I was at f/22, ISO 100, so I probably had a polarizer on it - just can't remember. Hope all is well with you and family - unbelievable! - look for the light. |
