Pandula - what a lovely, soft image! Don't you love the way monochrome brings out the face and especially the eyes. Nothing more to be done here says me. |

Thanks for the comments Oliver. I think the grain is due to using the Antique Plate II - I didn't add any.
I am glad this shot grew on you - it grew on me too. I am at a point where I return to a subject in order to try many other options trying for a special effect - age, decline, crumbling, what was once or what might have been.
Good to be a member here.

Very striking pose Paul. One of the things I want to concentrate more on is to put people into more of my shots. I think the bokeh worked out really well for you, and I personally would not have been bothered about the feather being slightly clipped - but if you have the technology to fix it, why not? I like that sepia thing too - I use it a lot. I also like that dual diagonality of the chin/ear line in combination with the feathers. To me a very interesting, strong profile image. |

Cleaver shot Oliver - the concept of a killer butterfly is certainly unique. A straight on shot like this one, I would think, does present a more menacing appearance than the traditional open or folded wing, overhead configuration. I believe that f/5.6 aperture allowed for some nice bokeh thus keeping attention on the subject and flower. I like the way you cropped it. I kind of wondered what this guy would look like closer up, so I tried a tighter crop and sure enough - he gets worse. I really like the detail you were able to capture - don't be afraid to close in and meet the menace eye to eye. |

I like this one a lot LuAnn. There is a symmetry about it that appeals to me, and I like the look of the ref captured almost midway between the two fighters. If you like the grain so do I - I don't know that I would have thought about adding it, and I'm thinking your reasoning was that it adds a grittiness to a pretty gritty sport - nice contrast - great action shot. Revgear should buy the rights to use this one for advertising. |
