Malibika - to me this is one of those rare photographs where color, lighting, composition and any other mechanical intricacies are overridden by the impact of the photo's content. Evidently many of my fellow countrymen and women have paid a heavy price to defend the people they loved and the country they died for - you did a nice job. |

Al - I can't add anymore than what the others have said. I was up in the Smokey Mountains last week and they did not experience anything close in foliage colors that you folks did in Minnesota. There was some yellows left, but most leaves just turned brown and dropped - I think it was due to the weather and water condition this summer - somewhat disappointed, but maybe next year will be better. Yours is a very colorful, well composed shot - nice job. |

I don't know Hung - I think you probably received enough "constructive criticism" on this one. It was a tough subject, but a good attempt - your other subjects (especially the ballet dancers) are outstanding. |

Nice shot Piers. I agree that the water color is powerful, almost an oily sheen to it (Shirley said so :), but my eye is still drawn directly to the duck's head, especially the beak and eye. Nice composition and a very unique shot. |

Yeah - I like the sepia too, although Hung's B&W is pretty interesting also. I was thinking I might have backed out a little more to get some of the surrounding environment - trying to get a little more lonelier composition to this old Dodge, but I think this is very well done and on second thought would not change a thing. I'm suppose to be joining a friend later this week for some old farm equipment shots - will definitely keep this composition and technique in mind - thanks for a great one. |

This one really appeals to me Shirley. I like the coloring in the sky and on the bridge uprights - very complimentary in my way of thinking. Your 10 second exposure streaked the headlights and taillights of the bridge traffic nicely - gives a great accent to the shot - draws one's eyes right down the bridge span - an overall, very well done image I would say.
I was wondering if you shoot and adjust RAW images or jpegs? I usually do the RAW thing, but recently mistakenly took a bunch of jpegs - really didn't seem to matter when I post processed. All the pros seem to go the RAW route. |
