I like this guy’s expression Malabika. Appears to me that this little fellow has an attitude, which in my view you have captured very well. Color, composition, focus and bokeh are fine in my view. I might like to experiment and capture that expression by cropping real tight and see how that would flow. Actually, a real interesting shot as is – I hope he ate well that morning – breakfast is an important start to the day. |

Al – this is a very interesting shot. I feel the comments already posted are justified, but you too had recognized the most inherent problem – a camouflaged bird. The only thing then is to work with it as Harry has done – he did improve it and I like the way he cropped tighter. Our photo club just had a very knowledgeable nature/bird photographer explain his techniques – he actually replaces backgrounds or surroundings to eliminate the unattractive one and get a very soft bokeh – obviously not a purist, but his shots are stunning. I’m sure it could be done here too. This guy says he spends anywhere from 20 minutes to 6 hours on the shots he shows and sells. Six minutes is about my limit for improvements. |

Hung – once again you have presented a most attractive and artistic image. Your dance couples are always well composed and contrasty – love the white costumes with black background. I would love to see how some of these print up. I have tried printing some night shots of my own, but my “blacks” tend to turn slightly brown, which I suspect is because I do not have the correct paper or printer color space. This is a beautiful shot – would look great with one of two others on the wall. |

Love it Shirley – so many floral shooters go for the perfect specimen – you know, a perfectly formed flower or leaf arrangement. This little guy has that “scatter brained” look, which in my view gives character to both your subject and your shot. Coloration couldn’t be better and I love that bokeh – painterly look, especially on the leaves, is great too. Hard to decide which of your floral shots I like best – probably the black and red which was stunning – as far as I’m concerned, you are now the official photographic “Georgia O'Keeffe” of group two. |

A really wonderful shot Harry. I am drawn to the eyes and the way the beaks come together – a unique feature that both are trying to share in the catch. I would think that to be a very rare circumstance so you were there and set up to capture it. It’s hard to suggest improvements on this shot, but I guess I would go along with cloning some sharper leaves or toning down the bright spots. Personally, if it were my shot and I were going to enter it in a contest or possibly frame it, I would probably leave it as you show it and maybe crop a little tighter to avoid those minor distractions putting more emphasis on the subject(s). Colors and bokeh are great - Really nice photo as is. |
