1. Select the foreground flowers and copy them to a new layer - Ctrl-J (Cmnd-J on a Mac)
2. Hold down the Ctrl-J key (Cmnd on a Mac) while clicking on the new layer's thumbnail
3. Do Select > Modify > Expand, then enter 3 and apply
4. Make sure the original layer is selected and unlocked
5. Press Shift-F5, choose Content-Aware and apply
6. Do Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur, and adjust to taste
The reason for all the steps is to prevent any halos caused when the blur is applied. |

Love the yellow and white flowers, but found the dark green leaves in the middle rather distracting. Here's my take on it without those. Thoughts? |

Lovely! I tried softening the background and removing some of the more distracting elements in the background. Thoughts? |

Interesting perspective. It takes a few moments to figure out what's happening here. I think the foreground plant in the lower left is causing some distraction making it more difficult to get the gist. Here's my rendition with that removed. Thoughts? |

Gorgeous! Perhaps a bit too much negative space on the right, but it really doesn't distract from the focal point of the flower. Great job! |

Great job with the background - it really helps the bells pop!
Agree about the DOF and did a bit of sharpening on that one flower. Thoughts? |

I found your revision a bit over-saturated and in need of some sharpening. Here's my revision based upon your original. Thoughts? |

I like what you did with the mulch, but I think you oversaturated the plant. |

I agree that this is a wonderful flower capture.
I wondered how it would look without the blurry flowers in the background. Thoughts? |

You managed to capture a lot in this image, including a jet flying in the opposite direction of the skier. I found the sky a distraction, so cropped it out and moved the boat and skier down some to make a stronger composition. Thoughts? |

I'm jealous that you can travel to such interesting places. Beautiful scene, indeed.
While the sky is gorgeous, I think it pulls too much focus. I cropped some from the top and right, then boosted the brightness of the boat and buildings. Thoughts? |

Interesting nature image, Rusty. Tells a nice story.
I found some of the leaves somewhat distracting. Here's a rendition with them removed. Thoughts? |

Cool capture. I found the orange and red signs to be a distraction from the birds. Here's an idea of what it would look like without them. Thoughts? |

A mistake was made and the image originally shown was actually the "original" image. The image to be studied is now shown. |

The phone has a built-in macro lens. There's not a lot of control of the parameters, though. It's certainly a lot easier to lug around than the DSLR. d;¬{D |

To finally solve the mystery, this is a very small section of concrete in our carport. This particular shot focused on the hole and the diagonal lines. I guess I like to keep y'all guessing. |
