Who doesn't like a large bunch of orchids?!? Lovely flowers here, for sure. I do find the background rather distracting and flattening the flowers. I tried to blur the background a bit more and punch the orchids some more. Thoughts? |

Here's a rendition that's been sharpened and cropped per your suggestion. Any better? |

Mmmmm. I haven't seen a color image from you in forever, though I admit I don't follow all your groups. Lots of color detail here and really pops. I'd perhaps suggest blurring the background flower a bit more so that it doesn't pull as much focus from your subject flower. |

Lovely flower. I find the background blends into the color of the petals and tends to flatten the flower.
I adjusted thee background to a light blue, then did some targeted dodging and burning to bring out more dimensionality in the flower. Thoughts? |

Gorgeous, Carol! Definitely wall-worthy. I can't see anything that needs done. |

Lovely flower and framed nicely. I agree about the cleanup and the distraction of the unopened flowers on the right. Here's a version cleaned up. Thoughts? |

You have a good start with this image, but the flower is out of focus and the eye is drawn there first.
I sharpened the flower in Topaz Photo AI, then cropped to strengthen the composition. Thoughts? |

I think this version finishes the image nicely, Rick. |

I love the Flood plugin!!! I've used it several times for images like this with space scenes.
Great job with the planet, Enterprise, and landscape. I find the stars to be a bit dense for the scene, but otherwise am very impressed. |

They are right that so much of the image is the out of focus hair of the subject that it hurts the effect you were going for.
This crop better draws the eye to the effect I think. Thoughts? |

Alas, they are correct that Rollo is not focused well. I took it into Topaz Photo AI to remove noise and sharpen, then cropped to bring more focus to Rollo's face. Thoughts? |

Shooting at dusk is usually a challenge as it tends to fade colors rather quickly. The odd dimension I find in this image is the lions and moon are sharp while the foliage is soft. As the lions are the star of the image, they are too close to the edge.
I added some space to the bottom and right and content-aware filled the new area. Thoughts? |

As I replied to Al, his body is pretty sharp, but the shadow I added looks to be too overpowering. d:¬{( |

I think it's more a matter of the shadow I added. It was too strong. Hmmm. |

Ready for the wall, Carol! There is enough detail despite the softness and that softness makes this a winner in my eyes! |

While having a flower all in focus is certainly something a judge is usually concerned with, I think the DOF you have here is correct. It's more appealing in this case to have the center of the lily sharp and only the very outside starting to soften. I would be quite pleased to make a capture like this. I tend to throw the baby out with the bath water a lot when everything is not in focus and that's not always appropriate. |

I think you did remarkably well with a live subject like this. Yes, the eyebrow is a distraction because of its position in the image. A bit of cropping can help correct for that. Thoughts? |

You got your subject just right! Bravo. I do think they background is distracting and can be cured with some strategic burning. Thoughts? |

This is a very artistic view of the rose and succeeds as that. I found the focal point to be the petal on the top right, which leaves much of the rose with a soft focus. I also find there to be too much blue sky.
I took this into Topaz Photo AI and boosted the sharpening throughout the rose, bringing out more of the texture. Then I cropped out some of the blue and finished up with some targeted dodging and burning to bring out more dimensionality. Thoughts? |

You're probably right. Normally, I would have captured the subject in my office/studio and used my macro rig. I didn't want to disrupt this plant in the living room, so opted to wing it. Been a while since I've tried this sort of shot without a rail. |

f45 is actually what my camera reported. In some situations, this macro lens will stop down that small. It wasn't my normal macro rig but an older camera on a tripod in my living room. I wanted as much detail as possible since I didn't have a rail in this case. |
