Can't really add anything of note to what's already been shared by the rest of the group. Bravo on another fine image, Dick. |

Lovely capture, Janet. The background sets off the blossoms well and the detail you have is great. I do agree that a contrast boost would help to finish this. For me, I would like to see some of the blossoms straight on rather than all in semi or full profile, but that is not meant to imply I dislike this image - I do like it! |

What a uniquely wonderful name you have! d;¬{Ã Welcome to the group!
Bravo on your opening image. With Dick's crop, it is a masterpiece of color, shape and lighting!

For me, this image is very inviting, beckoning for me to enter the opening and explore what awaits inside. Very moody and sensual. I only noticed the soft area after reading others' comments, so I don't see it as an issue. I think I prefer the original crop, so I guess I'm a rebel, too! d;¬{D |

When I've left the shadow beneath off, I've gotten many negative comments that the vehicle is floating, while the shadow below tends to ground it. |

Will try the blue in a bit.
The pen tool is daunting at first, but you'll find that it's quite versatile, especially since you can go to an earlier point and make adjustments, etc. Takes a bit of getting used to, but actually saves me a bunch of time and frustration in establishing masks when all is said and done. d;¬{D |

I'm in agreement with the rest of the group about the full version being far superior. I think the background could be a little more subtle to really pop the butterfly. Here's my take on it: |

Here's a version with the sharp leaves dodged and blurred, and the duckling burned ever-so-slightly to help it show a bit more. |

Okay, here's my take on it. Extracted the blob from the background, filled in the space via content-aware fill, burned the hotspots a bit, blurred it a bit, then added back in the blob and colored it to get close to the movie version. Thoughts? |

Rather than eliminating the sky, I opted to crop most of it out and then replace the remaining with a blue sky and wispy clouds. Then I removed the distracting elements and finally colored the water to better match with the sky. |

I played around with removing the white areas and wasn't pleased with the outcome as I felt it lost some of the whimsy of this design on the wall. I did a slightly different crop and warped the wall to straighten it out some. I also brightened their faces slightly to help them draw focus. |

You know I couldn't pass up the challenge, so here's my redo with a bright new air cleaner, armor alled tires, desaturated bumper and, of course, lights on . . . |

Tough angle. I suggest using the Perspective tool in PS to help this look more straight on and use clarity, contrast and desaturation of the background to help the subjects stand out from the background more. |

I echo the others' sentiments. Your painting technique is very good and true to the original while also true to the medium. Please share a larger version so we can enjoy it better. d:¬{D |

Ooooo . . . Never seen a gazania before. I'll have to look into them.
Love the painterly treatment, though I'd like to see the brightness toned down a bit to reveal more of the texture in the petals.
I also love the smudged background. I have a suggestion to help the flow in your next: select and copy your subject to a separate layer; then Ctrl(Command)-Click that new layer to reselect the subject's area, and do a content-aware fill on the background layer. It won't be perfect, but your smudging will be smoother and without worry of touching your subject - any imperfections will be covered up by your subject. |

I think your choices for the sky and the ground work very well to pop the tree. I think, for me, the tree needs all of its branches, including the top-most branches you left behind in your extraction. I would also suggest removing all the green foliage from the tree as it would pop better without it and the actual tree has none. I'm big on spending the extra time on my extractions to be as faithful as possible to the original subject. |
