70 Jan 21 Comment Amazing capture of light! Simply dazzling. One might consider de-saturating the foreground dome a notch or two, if that is allowed in your open competition. Jan 18th
70 Jan 21 Comment My eye tends to go first to the leading edge of the wave along the strand. Then it proceeds to the darker line of the wave that is passing the dark object, rock as you say. The rock does present a place for the eye to land, but is perhaps of neutral value. The image overall communicates to me a strong sense of surf on the beach, with the two well separated in color. 70 Jan 21 Comment The blue and gold tones are outstanding here. The reflections on the nearly motionless water amplify the presence of the autumnal tree foilage. Like Pierre, I imagine that trading some of the upper sky for the rest of the reflection not seen here would have been a good one. Jan 18th
70 Jan 21 Comment A magical moment indeed where everything came together in harmony! Your exposure and processing work very well. Congrats! Jan 18th
70 Jan 21 Comment The fireworks present a dazzling punctuation to this night image of the city. The compression of time through compositing is a kind of time lapse study, that gets all of the action into one frame. Multiple exposure techniques has been an accepted and creative approach in photography dating at least to the nineteenth century. This is a fine , up to date example! Jan 18th
70 Jan 21 Comment The stream's meandering and fallen tree are the key elements here, to my eye. The challenge is how to handle all of the bare limbs. I tried out the following: cropping down to the stream and its meanderings; and using duo-tone ( gold highlights , blue-ish for the darker tones ). You can tailor them to suit your tastes, but I think the effect of gold highlights brightens the mood. I have found that the duo-tones produce a very nice print on matte paper. Jan 18th
