Sorry I am late but somehow missed this image on my first go-round. Your expansive image takes in a great swath of the palouse which seems to extend to infinity, and differentiates it from other images I have seen of this magnificent locale. As to the horizon, it does not bother me where it is; you get a little more emphasis on the hills if you crop down some - I think anywhere above the darker, "swan's head" cloud formation would work. The presence of the low clouds that obscure the horizon somewhat, impart a definite mood of uncertainty to the image. Well seen and captured! |

Your second edition is the more satisfying image to my eye. It gets right to the point of the textures in the redwoods, and shows off the exceptional sharpness of all three of the massive trunks. |

The rugged textures of the ancient rock formations are the feature in this composition, and the light here was adequate for bringing out this quality. The winding trail effectively leads my eye up and through the composition. |

The pastel color set in your image makes a striking visual statement. The competing wake ( at left ) and running wavelets make a statement, although subtle, as well. |

I am assuming that this is an infrared image that was not converted to gray tones? I am curious about the orange tree at left which stands before a magenta background, which is an unusual color combination at infrared wavelengths. Is your polarizing filter designed to work at infrared wavelenghths or might it be producing color artifacts? |

You have done a nice job in capturing the night lights of Budapest. Your strategy of starting with more exposure than desired seems to have kept the noise level to an acceptable one, looking over your original image. Sometimes "less is more" in a composition, and with this in mind, I tried out elimination of the six story building on the left, which to my eye better emphasizes the stronger elements of the scene here. Also, I dodged the bow of the oncoming boat just a bit to improve its presence. |

Pierre, this is a magical light that you have captured. The streaks of sunlight across the snow are especially mesmerizing. I know that you carefully visualized the panoramic composition that integrates this scene as you saw it. I tried out this crop, which to my eye strengthens the oveall composition, eliminating the sun's emergence at the upper right corner. |
