The composition and image as a whole work very well, producing an image that inspires the imagination out in the wilderness. I think Glen's fine tuning does improve the image. Well done! |

Lovely hues in the water! I share Pierre's comments on the trees, which appear brittle. |

The falling water looks about right. A little higher vantage point would avoid some of the overgrowth and debris in the immediate foreground. |

The composition is the strong point. I think the monument is lighted in the evening. If, so the light might be more favorable then, both darkening the water detail, and strengthening the reflection of the monument. |

Looks really stunning in monochrome! The deep shadows in the valley to the right help to create depth and bring the dome out. |

Nice! The gold work in the foreground is an eyecatcher, for sure. While you were at work, I hope you captured the castle isolated up on the mountain with at telephoto lens. Against that sky, I wounder if that would not have been the winner from this vantage point. |

This was taken from about 20 feet above present position. Although light was a bit harsher, I wasn't too excited by it. BTW the Whale Branch River is in the distance. If you remember crossing it on US21 north out of Beaufort toward Charleston, from the bridge there are hundreds of the same kind of small marsh islands. Thanks!

Thanks, Glen! That's a good alternative way to compose the image that uses the conventional, 1/3 proportion or thereabouts for the sky. If the sky has meritorious features, I generally compose to best express what I am after in the image.
