I like the way the light falls on the lighthouse - just enough to make the lighthouse unambiguosly the center for interest. The gentle , pre-dawn light, the tonal range, and the colors are all just right! |

An idyllic country scene with a blue sky, puffy white clouds and nicely saturated colors overall. To my eye the fence lined drive starts out of the frame on the right and vanishes into the trees to the right of center leaving the composition feeling a bit biased and one-sided. I would have been disposed to moving over to the right to shoot this image, but then I do not know how the road entrace looked - maybe unsightly for some reason! Certainly worthy of framing and hanging. |

Foggy Marina is a pleasing, fog bound maritime scene with all of the lights and nautical trappings. It surely calls to mind some pleasant experience in just such a setting. The channel buoy looks like an integral element to my mind's eye. |

Your composition of Athens at Night is very creative way to present the architectural treasure of the arched gateway and to deal with the auto traffic that is close at hand! And you managed to find an elevated perch that allowed your lens to follow the red tail light streams well into the night. Some of the random night lights can profitably be burned in a bit. I worked on it a bit and perhaps over did the dodging a bit. |

Low Country River is taken from an advantageous, high vantage point so that a full view of the river borders and divergences in the distance is nicely presented. The low clouds seem particularly close to the water from this height, and a spot over on the left shore is spotlighted for emphasis by the partially occluded sun. Enjoyable image! |

The many balloons floating up into the sky is indeed a rich opportunity! As you indicate your original, raw image is underexposed, so that the usual adjustments that apply to improving an underexposed image will have some success here. At the outset the several white vehciles on the ground play a disproportionate role in impact. To my eye it is best just to compose or in this case crop them out. Next I just added a levels layer ( Photoshop CS6) and adjusted to better fill out the tonal spectrum of the image and a curves layer to tweak midtone contrast. Then inspecting your original image, the only balloon with notable internal illumination is the red one over near the red border. For that one I used the dodge tool (highlights only) to add to the internal light of that balloon, so as to make it the sole focal point. The result is posted here for your consideration. |
