The slow shutter produced a very nice effect and mood to this image out in the edge of the surf. The rising sun just off the right edge shifts the visual center of mass of the composition in that direction. Perhaps a useful variant of this particular composition would be something like the attached image, which lines us the old pilings and distant light roughly along the diagonal. |

Thanks for pointing that out. I thought the natural shadow of that hedge provided a natural frame directing attention to the distant golden trees. |

The warm glow created in the fog by morning sunshine is a very nice element in this landscape. The rising fog seems to melt seamlessly into the similarly hued clouds of the background. It must have been tricky to get three shots scanning across the horizon without introducing gaps in the rising fog shroud, so congratulations on your technique. I find the part of a building against the right edge to be out of character with the pleasing winter motif presented here. and standing out somewhat in its contrast. Honesty in photography is usually a virtue , but here I would be tempted to do some post processing to mute or remove it. Overall very nice work! |

The store entry and whitewashed brick wall make a noteworthy setting for your image. The linear picture elements are plentiful along the sidewalk. Light is very nice allowing the lamp above the entry to show its yellow hues. I agree with your assessment that the runner with motion blur is desirable, making a more dynamic image. I am not sure, however, that the runner's position before the doorway is ideal here. The runner to my eye tends to become absorbed into the reds and blacks of the shop behind her. The next question is then, how else would one position the runner? How about to the right of the palm which would introduce some imbalance and edginess to the image? My other suggestion would be to further slow the shutter down to create even more of a trail of motion for the runner, using if necessary a neutral density filter. Cheers! |

It seems that your first attempt at aerial photography was rather successful. Congratulations! Your attention to controls as well as composition paid dividends. The framing and composition in such a diverse setting are always challenging and that is especially so while flying ! In this case if I had my choice of vantage points, it would be to arrange that bridge/highway to emanate from the bottom left and to form a curve into the distant city.
The other thing I notice is that contrast and sharpness fall off starting just beyond the highway bridge. This might be due to some haze in the air, as well as the depth of field limits of your f/8 aperture. At any rate I loaded your image up in Lightroom, created a mask to expose the image beyond the bridge & highway, and added a bit of contrast and sharpness to just that portion. To my eye it makes the image as a whole appear more balanced - at any rate something to consider. Cheers! |

Splendid image! Everything is sharp and crisp from foreground to background. Mountainside village stands out in the light. Cloud shrouded mountain in the background is muted in the shadows but still stands strong as a visual element. The composition here places all pictorial elements in perfect harmony, the very essence of composition! |
