If I have caused you to revisit the scenery along U.S. 1 at the Big Sur wilderness, then I have surely succeeded. Thanks! |

I like the framing as the clouds create the visual impression of a boiling cauldron with rising steam and vapors. The portrait orientation thus furthers and reinforces that mental illusion in the mind's eye. The truncated palm tree at the left edge is best avoided for compositional clarity. Cherers! |

Your compositional idea is a fresh and creative one. As it stands the frame and arched window aperture tend to diffuse focus on the water view beyond. A dark vignette might help to balance the two elements. Also a circular fisheye lens or its equivalent placed at the entry of the window would push the window outward to a symmetrical frame while promoting the water and buoy to almost a full frame view. I have been looking for a similarly shaped window aperture to use as an illustration of what I mean here - if I find one soon I will add it. Cheers! |

The sequence of arcs in the bridge are featured nicely in silhouette before the colorful sky here. The composition would be stronger if the transiting boat were on the left side of the composition, thus strengthening the primacy of the largest arc of the bridge as though the boat were steering for that point in space. Many photogs today would thus relocate the boat with Photoshop since our craft is today seeking the "perfect" image at the expense of purity and honesty. Overall the image is well done. |
