Thanks Graham, I truly appreciate your comments! I remember seeing the wire when taking the photo, but didn't pick it up in processing. I'll take a look at this. I agree that it could be distracting and should possibly be removed. I also consider Lance's input as well with the possibility of leaving it. Both are excellent points to consider. This is why I am a big fan of these study groups as it allows me to take the input from others and learn! Thanks again... |

Both photos are excellent! For shot 1, the reflection is perfect. I personally like the red spots in the reflection as in my opinion it provides interest. My only suggestion is to perhaps experiment with the contrast in the standing marsh to get a little more darkness (not too much in order not to blow out the lighter portions). Nice image!
For shot 2, I really like this image. The composition is excellent as are the details and DOF. I agree with the above comments that the clouds are possibly a little over processed. This is an excellent photo that should be hanging on a wall! |

Excellent creative photo! The details are excellent! As mentioned above, I too admire your skill. As far as the crop discussion, I prefer the tighter crop as you provided on 6/9, just my opinion. |

Great photo! Nice clear photo with excellent details and DOF. Good composition with the shoreline at an angle. I love the reflection, which is nice and clear. I agree with the above with seeing the top of the tree in the reflection. The only other suggestion is perhaps lighten somewhat the foliage in the upper right corner. |

Excellent photo! The composition is great and the squirrel's eyes are sharp and clear. From my computer screen the bright background appears to clash with the squirrel somewhat. Perhaps experimenting with a darker tree trunk would make the squirrel stand out. However, the background as shown is very creative and provides strong interest in the image as a whole! It appears that you can't go wrong either way. Nice work! |

Great image! I like the creativity in the image as I must admit that I normally would have gone for more contrast in the mountains. The linear tonal range enhances the creativity. I also note the use of f/22 and how well this image turned out. I was taught that the f/1-f/11 range for sharpness with f/22 being for special effects. Your use of f/22 fits this image very well! Thanks for showing us this and for the opportunity to learn! |

Excellent image! This photo has great composition and a simple theme that draws me in. I agree with the suggestions noted above. Personally I like the glass teacup as it is a little different that the standard cup and saucer and therefore gives the image more interest. Very nice image... |

Thanks Lance! I took your edit of the image and compared it side by side with mine...I like what you did with this. The dodging of the barn and surrounding area gives it a smooth aesthetic feel. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to learn! |

Thanks Steven! I have used Silver Efex Pro, especially for special effects. However I tend to agree, at times I can't tell the difference when using LR. |

Thanks Jennifer! Thanks for your suggestion regarding more contrast. I agree, this may make the image pop more, I'll give it a try. Contrast in images is a learning curve for me as at times when I try to use it to make images stand out I tend to go overboard. This will help me with this image. Thanks again. |

Thanks Emily, appreciate your comments and suggestions. I agree that the sky needs work. This has been the general consensus among the group and is something that I missed. This is why I am a big fan of these study groups as it allows us to take advantage of the insights and suggestions of others and to learn from them. Thanks again! |

Thanks Robert, I truly appreciate your comments. I have used NIK filters in some situations to provide a painted effect. This generally provides an interesting version of the image. I agree that the sky is too bright and needs work. Thanks you for taking my image and working with it. I like your suggestions and will look into it. Thanks again... |

Thanks Cheryl, I appreciate your comments! I agree that the sky looks washed out and needs some adjustments. Thanks for your adjustment suggestions to the image. Please feel free at any time to take my submitted image, edit it, and provide your thoughts. I truly appreciate this and it allows me to see things that I missed earlier. |

Nice photo! I like the overall mood of this image. The composition is excellent and in my opinion keeping a part of the pier in the foreground gives me the feeling of "being there". I really like the "layered" mountains in the background which provides depth to the image. As far as suggestions, in my opinion you may want to experiment with lightening the image a little, however I recognize the darkness enhances the mood I mentioned earlier. I agree with perhaps removing the light pole in the foreground. My last thought is there appears to be some light rays coming from the clouds in the background. Perhaps experimenting with enhancing these light rays to provide another point of interest in the photo. This is an excellent and very creative photo...great work! |

Excellent photo! I agree with your choice of B&W for this and it does have an Ansel Adams feel to it. I really like the excellent detail and DOF. The composition is excellent with the overall diagonal lines of the mountains giving me a sense of "being there". I also like what you did with the sky, especially after seeing the original version (I always have trouble with the sky in these photos). The only suggestion I have is perhaps experimenting with lightening up the foreground rocks around the waterfall. This hopefully could be done without taking away from the waterfall. Great work! |

Excellent photo! I like the quiet and in my opinion serene mood of this image. I believe the composition is excellent leading to the mountains in the distance. I personally like the cloud structure and position as I believe it enhances the overall composition. I personally like the rocks in the foreground. In one photography book I read it states that the use of wide angle lens pushes things back to allow you to put something in the foreground (not an exact quote). If you included the rocks, perhaps you could add vibrance and contrast to make them stand out. I agree with the comments above on the saturation of the trees. The only other suggestion I would is to possible experiment with lighting up the reflection in the water to bring out the colors, especially the darker greens of the pine trees. Great work, this image could easily be framed and hang on your wall! |

Good comments and suggestions by all. First of all I love the title, which I think fits the image perfectly! In my opinion this photo has good detail and excellent DOF. I also like the light/shadow contrast. My only suggestion is perhaps a little more vibrance or color enhancement to bring out the color of the ground foliage. As far a the crop, in my opinion to basically align the crop to be more in line with your pre-crop photos. Excellent work! |

Excellent comments and suggestions by all! In looking at this image I really like the leading line through the valley leading to the snow covered mountains in the distance. This image is clear and crisp with excellent DOF. I also like the composition with the foreground trees. The only suggestion I would make is perhaps a little more vibrance in the mountains and trees to make this area stand out a little more. Only a suggestion as this is a great photograph! |
