65 Sep 21 Comment What a fun and simple image. The technique you have described is an effective process for capturing detail in a "high key" environment, and this the process described by Harold Davis in his "Photographing Flowers for Transparency" workshops. You harnessed it quite nicely in this image. While all of the detail is present in the leaf you still have avoided an overly "flat affect" that one often gets using alternate techniques (such as the more traditional focus stacking). I too have a light box that I can employ so I will need to try this myself. You have inspired me. Nice job Sep 10th
65 Sep 21 Comment What an impressive image. I would like to say that you were lucky to get such a shot, but I know that often a lot of a hard work and multiple attempts goes into each successful nature image. The clarity of the main subjects is wonderful, and I love the smooth soft background. It really serves to highlight your subject considerably. I understand how you adjusted and potentially enhanced the color in this image some, but I feel that the eye is overly bright and intense. As I see it, the red eye is so bright that it steals the show, and competing with the overall image and as such detracts a bit for the overall impact. I suspect that if you reduce the intensity some, a better balance between this eye and the remaining image might be achieved. Aside from that, though, congratulations on an impressive image. Sep 9th
