65 Apr 18 Comment Now this is unique and different look, and I applaud you for seeing this. There is a interesting mix of shapes and colors which makes this a pleasing texture shot. The eye them snaps you around as one realizes just what it is you are looking at. Since the eye is such a critical element here, it needs to be much lighter and visible. I think that the eye is way too dark and obscured to pull it's weight. Looking forward to your next image Apr 20th
65 Apr 18 Comment Interesting image which highlights a contrast between the sharpness of the insect and the softer flower in the background. As noted earlier, it has a transparent quality and the colors adds a unifying effect.. However, the quality of this image as it projects here is poor. The detail on the bug is lost and there is a significant amount of jaggedness in the detail. I am guessing that this may be due to being enlarged so much that there just aren't enough pixels to support the image. In this specific case this is so distracting that I have a hard time looking past this to appreciate the image. Apr 20th
65 Apr 18 Comment Nice texture shot with interesting colors. To me this image looks a bit unbalanced. Perhaps this is due to the lighter area on the right side with the blue specks. This area is very different from anywhere else in the image, so it stands out and unbalances the image as a whole. Also, I would add a bit more contrast (or micro-contrast or clarity) to bring out more the textures that this shot highlights. Apr 20th
65 Apr 18 Comment I love this! Your photography has recently improved dramatically. Isn't it interesting how much better our results are when we plan and take the time to really apply our selves.? I Love both the thought and execution , especially how the light fall-off adds considerable drama to the composition.

I appreciate that time it took to address the small bits and pieces that the focus stacking process seems to collect and emphasizes. I like your approach with dealing with these spots, with the addition that I might of used a mask to bring the darkened subject bask to the original intensity rather than a "lighten" brush. Lots of ways to get to the same place in Photoshop. Addressing these issues is one of the unseen efforts that this type of photography requires, but I feel that the efforts are rewarded in the final product.

The only comment I have is in regard to the composition. There are at least six elements that are only partially seen around the edges, falling off of the image, and to me this becomes a distraction and adds a bit of tension to the image. Also I think that you could add a bit of space around the edges of the image to allow more room for you subjects.

Don't you just hate it when after all is said and done, you wish that you would of taken the image with just a bit more room around the edges? Well, we can do this in post processing by "Expanding the Canvas" and adding more to the image back to the original shot. I will send out a description as to how to do this in both Photoshop and Elements as a separate E-mail to whole group. To demonstrate the impact off removing the partial subjects and adding a bit more room around the edges I attempted this with your shot. See if this small change impacts the overall feel of the shot.
