Great image. I don't disagree with any of the earlier comments. I especially like your composition, shown the entire antennae and mouth parts, but still leaving so space for the critter to move toward. To me the hexagon highlight in the eye is a bit distracting. The angular shape in the otherwise natural environment adds a bit of discord that does not need to be present. I would have tried to clone that shape out, perhaps leaving a more "natural" looking highlight. Try that an see what you think. |

What a wonderful; images. Its great to see that you are also planning your images rather than just capturing what happens to come your way. I think that that is the best way to stretch own's abilities, and is very appropriate for this "learning environment". I personally like the dark background and how the colorful screws are so clearly prominent. The use of the red pinstripe border really sets this image apart. One thing I might have done would have left more space at the top (from your red border), leaving as much distance between the largest screw and the top, as you have between the bottom and the largest screw reflection. I think this might balance the image some. |

I think that that is the best way to stretch one's abilities, and is very appropriate for this "learning environment". I really like this image, especially in the cleanness of this image (as Mary noted). I am less concerned about having a central subject although I do appreciate what LuAnn is saying. The central theme of the image is so tight, that for me it "carries the day" I do find that the pin on the bottom (with the red head) tends to pull my eye down, and away from the image. Looking forward to more of your "staged" images |
