7 Dec 21 Comment Hello Helen and welcome to our group. Your composition is strong, your image attracts the viewers' attention and was well timed (yawning subject). I do agree with our group about the image being too dark, causing some loss of detail in the background. I lightened the exposure and protected the highlights to bring more detail. One point I make in processing an image is to look around the edges and eliminate any extraneous detail. In Photoshop I applied the healing brush to eliminate the vase to the right as it pulled my eye away from the subject, the light particles outlining a figure and I toned down the decorative pieces in the right background. Very nice image Helen. Dec 23rd
7 Dec 21 Comment Tony this is a lovely image. I agree with converting to b&w to accentuate forms, shapes, and tonality. I find the scarf, with its curved patterns and lines close to the ear are complimentary to the ear. I like the close in crop and the smooth tonality across the face. Question Tony: appears you used a curved graduated density filter going away from the subject's head? Dec 21st
7 Dec 21 Comment Excellent composition Barbara, beginning with a strong leading line to the silhouetted hiker with dogs following, who just happen to be walking perpendicular towards the cypress tree (or?) in the right side of your image. And the artistic soft touch provided by the fog ala. I like how you have captured the clouds on the left half and clearing on the right. The only possible suggestion, Barbara, would be to consider cropping down from the top almost ten precent. Dec 18th
7 Dec 21 Comment Outstanding image Tom. Sharpness throughout all of the sunflower, bokeh for background with f/8 close in, focus and exposure fine. I like how you captured the detail in the plant and especially the hairs. Nicely handled. Dec 18th
