I like both aspects and it all depends on your intention, Tom. |

Beautiful Bird Lisa!! I think you did a great job here with compositing.
When I look closer, it doesn't seem that the bird is connected to the stump, as if it's floating above it a bit. I think the sharpness of the talons differs from the stump so maybe a bit of blur on them? |

I love your concepts Tom! You have put into an image exactly how most of us feel right now! Kudos!
I also like you putting yourself into the image and can see a nice series in it all.
I've used a green screen in the past and prefer a black background for compositing although I can see why you would want green for separation from your dark clothing.
How do you eliminate the green when you do a selection? |

As always Henry, a beautiful impressionistic image! I always find your bold colors very pleasing.

Nice start Brad!! The first thing I see is the crooked horizon.. or is it just bent because of the wide angle?
You have a good foreground, middle and background... now you need to give us a strong path for our eye to follow from front to back.
Because I'd like to show you what I mean by a path, I added some warm light from the front to the back. I also cropped a little off the bottom because I felt that out of focus water was stopping my eye from moving into the image.

Thanks Maria and welcome to Group 54!
I took a class from Ella Carlson https://www.ellaputneycarlson.com/gallery-aliens
She's an amazing artist and teacher!
I've been making "aliens" up the wazoo, lol! So much fun! |

Thanks Brad! I love challenges because it helps me grow as a photographer and as a digital artist.
Maybe something to consider in one of our groups? |

Fun idea and scene you created here.
I appreciate your attempt to sink the subjects into the grass. I do think that the bear needs a bit more blur as his fur is sharper than the rest of the image and makes him not fit into the scene as well as the woman. |

Peggy, I like the dynamism in this image very much! I find that the movement within the image really lends itself to a good story.
I love the placement of the bird and the threatening look of the wave.
I think that the cloud is not the most important part of this story so I did a bit of editing to show you what I think would make this story pop.
I used a gradient tool in Photoshop to darken the clouds and then slightly lightened the inside of the wave and enhanced the bird in Camera Raw with a bit more contrast and light. |
