41 Feb 21 Reply Thanks Maryellen! Feb 27th
41 Feb 21 Reply Thanks Lisa! I looked at flipping it. You're right, we read from left to right and I like that fact that the more intense color ends up at the far right.
I appreciate your suggestion for sure and need to remind myself of the left/right thing more often.

41 Feb 21 Reply What a connection for you Henry! Yes, Nevada City. It's a nice community in the Sierra Foothills and probably much as you remember it when you were here. I try to stay out of the rocks and brush in the summer, hah hah!
Thanks for checking out my website! I'm glad you liked my Fantasy work. It's a lot of fun for me to do.

41 Feb 21 Comment Crazy, fun skies! I love how you are trying new things, especially in areas that I have never been exposed to! Feb 16th
41 Feb 21 Comment You're having so much fun Jan, with great results!
I love the color choices and placement.
This is one of those compositions where you could take it so much further, even though it's great the way it is.

41 Feb 21 Comment Lovely capture and treatment.
Topaz is one of my favorites! So much to play with.

41 Feb 21 Comment I love your end result Henry! The colors and brush strokes are striking and pull me right into the picture.
The only things I might suggest is a little more room on the left side by the petal to make it feel "roomier". And to tone the yellow done in the bottom right so it doesn't compete with the bloom.
Job well done!

41 Feb 21 Comment Brrr, I peaked at your original and got chills. Surfing with snow on the ground just makes me cold, hah hah.
I like how you put this composite together. It's dynamic and makes perfect sense.
I agree with Lisa that the sky behind the trees doesn't seem to fit.

41 Feb 21 Reply Thanks so much! And great suggestion Brad! I will accept the challenge and see what I can do. Feb 7th

54 Feb 21 Reply I like this version too! The red is really effective. Feb 17th

54 Feb 21 Comment Wow, this is a scary photo and a keeper as Alan said.
I really can't add anything more to what everyone wrote above other than I wonder how this would look in Black and White?
Great idea and execution!

54 Feb 21 Comment Brad,
Nice attempt to reclaim a photo that you didn't totally like!
I like the bird where it is... I wonder if you tried to bring the other birds into it too?
I like how everything points to the bird in the seascape so the placement of the bird is fine to me.
I agree about the lens flare being distracting because it's almost brighter than the bird.
I don't think you need the right third of the photo to tell the story unless you add the other birds. Of course, then it's a different story that you're telling.

54 Feb 21 Comment Very interesting composition! I really like the color palette you chose and the gradation from top to bottom. Feb 16th
54 Feb 21 Comment Welcome to the group Neil! Great intro!
I love your concept and the treatment of it! Bravo!
I agree with the others about the halo on your right arm and the dup on your right hand below it. Just a bit of minor correction needed so that it's not distracting from your great treatment.
I actually think your armpit hair is great! Don't get rid of it, hah hah!
I agree with Brad that your shadows don't match up. If you're going to submit this anywhere, you might want to go back and make sure the shadows all make sense to the viewer.
All in all, a great composite with even more potential!

54 Feb 21 Reply Interesting idea Brad and thank you! I'll take a look at her coloring. Feb 16th
54 Feb 21 Reply Thank you Aavo! It doesn't seem like a lot of work at the moment. Just when I write it all down later, hah hah.

54 Feb 21 Reply Thanks for your suggestion Neil! I get into these "creative states" and the art just happens. It's probably from something I see or read that just melds into my forgetful mind. Feb 16th
54 Feb 21 Reply Thanks Marilyn! I'm trying to share more detail but honestly, it's so hard when I'm "in the moment of creating" to think about detailing "what" I'm doing, hah hah
