Steps are truly everyday things!
I like what you captured and think that I like Pat's mono version too!
I always enjoy architectural elements, especially strong lines, in mono. |

I was drawn right in and had to keep going back to spend time looking around. Applause! |

Wow! Love this!
I wish I could see this everyday but they don't visit in my neck of the woods. |

Great description Tim! The ironic thing is that the "lady" is a professional photographer and her husband is the "hobby hubby".
They are friends of mine and she didn't want to bring one of her many BIG cameras on our beach walk, lol! |

As always, Cindy, you have a great eye!
I'm always torn between a naturalistic look and one that looks more HDR "like" which this photo falls more into.
One of my thoughts is that I don't know where you want me to focus... Maybe there isn't one focal point of interest? The clouds are wonderful and the mountains are nice relief against them. But then I'm pulled to the high contrast areas in the lower third so the picture bounces me around quite a bit.
I played a bit and offer another choice.
I echo Davids congrats!

Agree with all that's been said although I think you deliberately wanted it grainy, didn't you?
My only suggestion is to change the vignette to dark instead of white. The white edges compete with cute Violet.
And I agree with Chuck about cell phones pictures... they do a great job and I use mine often. |

Both versions are quite striking and interesting.
I love the soft colors in the original, especially in the water.
The mono version is a bit busy in the trees and almost looks like a linocut. I'd prefer a bit less activity in the trees to help my eye rest on the water. |

Love your treatment and texture of this compelling portrait!
It's so much more interesting than the color version in that you really pulled out more character in the mono. |

Beautiful waterfall Paul!
I really like the mono version but there's so much competing for my eye in the details of the rock that it pulls me away from the lovely water shape.
I, too, played with it to soften the rocks and bring out the falls a bit more.
All the versions are good, it's just want every you like! |

I agree with Cyril about your pleasing composition.
I had to look at the original, read your description and look closely back at your painted photo to understand what you did although I'm not sure what effect your going for.
It's a bit subtle for me but then it's all personal taste. I do think you can add more depth and texture to your photo to give it a bit more impact by doing some dodging and burning in select places. |

I really like this interpretation of your original photo Nancy!
Love the tone, the color, the elimination of the road, the positioning of the buggy... it all works! |

Lovely dreamy photo and painting. My eye easily follows the river through the picture.
