I like The timelessness of this shot. It could be any year and any Park in the US.
Technically, I would like a tighter crop on the sides so my eye really rests on the ranger and a few interesting faces around him. |

This photo draws me into it. I want to linger and look at the fine details!
Once I widen my view, I really enjoy the fluid symmetry of the tires and the curve it interplay with the fender.
I dont have an issue with the amount of contrast and think it just right. |

Nice details that could be enhanced with a bit more dodging and burning. |

Hah! I thought the same thing as Paul when I saw it... it looked upside down!
Interesting processing... I almost though you had converted it to an infrared image.
I like both the color and the mono image equally for very different reasons. One is "other worldly" and the other conveys a "mood". |

Really like this picture!
Nice and sharp... their faces say it all!
Good choice for mono!

Glad there was a sign on it, lol!
I like more contrast in black and white photos (as you already know 😉) so while I like your subject, I'd like to see more contrast for the wood grain to pop.
I also would like to see the bottom of the door so that there's a "path" to follow into the bathroom. |

Thanks for the kind comments all!
I appreciate your comments on the "rules" and I considered them when cropping. But for my perspective, this was the final for better or worse.
I like the balance better when the horizon sits in the middle. Probably this will be the only time and it's because the sky AND the reflection were both stunning. |

Really like the action and flow of this picture!
You have a strong point of view and I always look forward to seeing what your next "action shot" will be. |

Nice pastel look to your morning shot.
I agree with Wes. A watercolor paper or cotton rag would be a nice treatment. |

Beautiful close-up shot of the eagle! Your work further enhanced the photo. Love the pose and the majesty!
I like your original and wondered whether there was a way to deal with that shoulder other than cropping it.
I took it into PS and played a little to bring the hot spot down and ending up just cloning the area. I'm sure you thought of that already. |

How nice to be in Holland and get to take pictures of the windmills~
Like the composition a lot. I agree that a bit of dodging and burning around the clouds and windmills would make this really pop.
I also wonder if cropping off some of the water... perhaps moving the bird up closer to the shore would help the eye stay focused on the subjects. |

Brrr! What a striking shot!
I agree that a bit of the sky can be cropped but otherwise an impactful picture. |

Beautiful image Nancy!
I actually like your original just as much as the "painted" version.
I especially like your brush strokes!
What a great endorsement for Karen's book! I'm sure she appreciates it. |

What an interesting picture to paint... It seems to present many challenges.
It's a fun picture and a fun treatment. I agree about the blue "blobs" being a bit much but that's easy to fix.

A lovely picture where the painting appropriately softens the scene and sets a mood.
I like how you softened the woman.
I am not bothered by the light building on top as I am distracted by the "diamond" on the door. That's where my eye went first. |
