63 Mar 25 Comment Hi Xiao,
I agree with the above comments. I really like your background but would have preferred sharper wings. The overall image is lovely.

63 Mar 25 Reply Hi Murphy,
It is not easy to be surrounded by lots of people, especially children are running around! It is not practical in this environment to use a tripod, nor a monopod.
Always a question of compromise! I was already down to 1/125 sec, and preferred not to raise my ISO to allow a higher f/stop. My fault. Next time, I will accept more noise.
Thanks for your comments.

63 Mar 25 Reply Hi Charles,
Thanks for the suggestions and demonstration.

63 Mar 25 Comment Hi Murphy,
Very nice lines, textures, light and shadows "games". These are all very effective in B/W photography and perfectly used in your image. Congrats.

63 Mar 25 Comment Hi Charles,
I love both images, but prefer the one with the fewer grains of salt.
Did you use find a way to use these for a meal after?
I am also impressed by the development of the focus stacking technology, especially when it is done in camera. This is so much faster than in the "old" days!
Great work.

63 Mar 25 Comment Hi Neal,
I love the color palette and all the texture details. Well done.

63 Mar 25 Comment Hi Barbara,
Lovely. I like the fact that the flower is angled, which allow light and shadows affecting the petals in different angles.
I like the mirror reflection on the water.
Well done.

69 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Jacob. I was at the right time, at the right place with the right equipment! Mar 17th
69 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Cindy. Mar 17th
69 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Mervyn. I was at the right place at the right time! This was by the shores of the Niagara River in Fort Erie, Ontario. Grand Island, NY, is in the background.
Lenses: I can handheld the 200-800 f 6.3-9 for short period of times - weight is 4.5 lbs. The Canon RF 150-500 f4.5-7.1 can be held for longer periods of time - weight: 3 lbs.

69 Mar 25 Comment Red squirrels are very territorial and will « defend » their tree.
I agree with the comments above. The background is very bright and the squirrel too dark. Backlit images are always tricky. One could overexpose or use a « fill flash ». With a telephoto lens, one could also frame the animal tightly, so the bright surrounding is not affecting as much the exposure.

69 Mar 25 Comment This is a Variegated Fritillary butterfly (Euptoieta claudia). Mar 10th
69 Mar 25 Comment Really nice and intimate monochrome image. This close-up allow an eye to eye contact and very nice skin textures.
Another keeper!

69 Mar 25 Comment Hi Cindy,
This is a very nice capture and your post-processing improved drastically the final result.
I agree with the comments above.
Very nicely done. Congrats.

69 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Dean. 1/1000 sec was sufficiently rapid at this phase of their flight, but certainly not fast enough for a crisp take-off!
The Canon RF 200-800 is a nice lens. I am quite happy with it, especially for its range.
My only concerns are that this is not a "L" series lens, and as such, does not have great weatherproofing. Furthermore, as this is not an internal zoom lens, one needs to be careful in drying the lens barrel prior to reducing the zoom reach. It is not possible to perfectly balance this lens on a gimbal head either. Oh well....

69 Mar 25 Reply Thanks Jaswant. I would have liked to decrease my f/stop, but this perfect situation of having all 4 birds in flight perfectly perpendicular to my lens caught me off guard - not much time to tweak my setting! Mar 5th
69 Mar 25 Comment Very nice capture. Good color palette an focus. My only suggestion would be to decrease the shadows and highlights as the head and the body of the butterfly is a little dark. I took the liberty of "tweaking" a little bit your image and added a very subtle vignette. Mar 5th
69 Mar 25 Comment It is a beautiful and touching scene. The wide crop allows us to see these 2 elephants in their natural environment.
Lovely. I like it like this, but a slight vignette and/or increased contrast are reasonable.
Another keeper!

70 Mar 25 Comment Wow.... Beautiful scene with strong guiding lines and nice color palette.
My only suggestion is to correct the slightly tilted horizon line.
A keeper!

70 Mar 25 Comment Beautiful image. To my knowledge, this is your first drone image on PSA DD 70!
Nicely done.
I appreciate the description of this National Park, which makes me want to add it to my "bucket list" of places to go.
Very rich color palette.
Nicely done.

70 Mar 25 Comment Hi Geoff,
For me, the focal point is the small pond with the mirror reflections of the cave within it.
The 2 tourists are giving a good idea of the size of this cave.
Sorry about your Nikon 810, but your survival, intact, was far more important! What can we do to get a shot!
Nicely done.
Another keeper!

70 Mar 25 Reply Hi Kirk,
Thanks for your constructive comments. I like the suggestion of dehazing, but maybe not as strongly applied.

70 Mar 25 Comment This is a very nice image. Very symetric and calm, with a progressive Gradation from dark to bright from the close/bottom to far/sky. An added light path with a bright color walker with an umbrella - just wonderful. The distant door and the walker are inviting us to visit China!
This is a keeper and would be a great image for a travel agency.
Fantastic!

70 Mar 25 Comment I asked Geoff to provide us with a bit more details....
Here is his response:
Adding a little more to my pic. We used a helicopter to fly into the Bungle Bungles in Western Australia. I hand held the camera and use 200 ISO. Once landed we found a tour group that took us close to the cave and then walked for about half an hour to get to where I took the pic. A rather special place in a remote part of Australia. The camera that I use is a Nikon d850. I recently purchased it as I drowned the Nikon 810 when I was in a cave and the wave came in knocking me to the ground. I was lucky I could grab the crevice in the rocks saving me from being washed out to sea and ending my life. What we do to get a good picture.
