Hi Jacob,
I know that I am repeating myself, but I am impressed by the improvements you made since you joined this groop, in capturing insects with an iPhone. As mentioned before, it helps to be essentially parallel to your subject.
Nicely done. |

Thanks Dean and Diane. I believe that hewas showing off, trying to impress the lady nearby!
Mallard duck will stay put throughout the winter, even if the water gets ice cold. The drake's head will go from green to blue, depending on the light. This is very similar to the Bufflehead Drake head. |

You guessed right. The Niagara river is pretty cold in the winter! |

Welcome to the group Diane.
Beautiful image with nice mirror reflections. Nice textures, cropping, and guiding lines.
I am a bit surprised to see the bottom of the lake. Were you using a polarizer or was the water crystal clear and the lake very shallow? I am just wondering if the image would be stronger without seeing the lake bottom.

Interesting patterns. Did you consider B/W conversion?
I like it. |

Nice macro shot with only the stigma and anters in focus. The result is a nice out-of-focus bokeh.
I am curious about why you use a f stop of only 2.8.
Did you consider focus stacking?
In my experience with this subject, focus stacking can be tricky as structures can get superposed.
I like it - another keeper!

Nice images. I prefer the original version due to the fact that it puts this lioness in the tree. Both great versions. |

Ooooppps.... I goofed up on the size of the file. Unfortunately, it is too late to post it on the site. I will email you a bigger file. Sorry! |

It was not that cold that morning, only 44c or so below your place! |

Thanks Kirk,
The white on top was snow. There were multiple ice floats in calmer areas of the river ( not on this image). |

Hi Kirk,
I agree with Geoff. Wow... Maybe a little too much contrast and oversharpen to my taste, but this is very personal.
Great submission. |

Wow... You were able to show the 2 small trees that were hidden by that lady! Nicely done.
Beautiful water reflections and details. Interesting for me to see Christmas images without any snow.. although, up here in Southern Ontario, Canada, the snow came a few days after Christmas this year.
Another keeper! |

Hi Geoff,
Very interesting and appealing image with this tree jumping out in the light!
Can you give us a bit more information on where and how you took this image?
Beautiful. |
