70 Aug 23 Reply Hi Kirk,
This was a dead tree on the shores of this lake. I was hoping that it would have served as a good closeby focus point.
Unfortunately, I could not climb down to the edge of the lake and bring that dead tree as a large proximal focus point. Oh well....

70 Aug 23 Reply Wow.... This is a very long bridge!
One technique to try when in need of an extreme depth of field, is to use the Focus Stacking technique (for landscape instead of macro-photography). I am not sure that it would have worked in this instance, as the distal end of the bridge essentially disappears due to the earth's curvature and "fog" caused by the water evaporation. Using a higher viewpoint might also be helpful.

70 Aug 23 Comment Vast landscape!
I always find it difficult to decide where to focus my attention with such wide and tall landscapes!
I would have liked to see these chimneys with more breathing space on either side.
You did a pano of 3 images. I am assuming that this was a horizontal pano with the camera set vertically considering the height of these columns.
Lovely "Orange" hour.
I am wondering if a 5 image pano would have helped, or maybe, just focussing on one chimney with more space on either side would work better for me.
I realized that you also wanted to include this far-away mesa in the background... and that you probably had not much space to move around!
Sometimes it is better to focus on fewer elements...

70 Aug 23 Comment Great results with this camera. All sharp, good crop. I would have like smoother water but great results with what you worked with.
This image also tells a story: Cell phones are everywhere, even in the most serene environments!
Nice work.

70 Aug 23 Comment Hi Kathryn,
I love the Canadian Rockies and all the sceneries along the "Glacier Highway" in Alberta.
Lovely image with strong directing lines, water reflection, the color of the water. Spirit Island is such a good name. This site is serene and calming, inviting all the visitors to peace! Your image is communicating this feeling nicely.
Another keeper.

70 Aug 23 Comment Hi Geoff,
Nice image. I agree with Stefaan's comments.
Tells a story far from your home.
Well done.

70 Aug 23 Comment Thanks for these comments. I agree with you that a nearby focus point would have been great. Aug 10th
70 Aug 23 Comment Hi Tami,
I believe that Stefaan is right. I believe that you have a motion blur caused by your very long exposure and/or winds. For such a long exposure, one needs a very sturdy and heavy tripod, especially if there is any significant wind.
The smooth effect of the water, the directing lines, the crop used, and the city/bridge light are all very nice.

As per my previous submissions, I like to use bracketed exposures and a very sturdy tripod (Gitzo 5). Despite this, in windy conditions, my usual 5 images do not always stack well despite the fairly quick image sequence and remote control.

70 Aug 23 Comment Please welcome Stefaan to our group. His bio and personal picture are in the "Group 70 Members" section above.

Great starting image.
Everything is crisp and sharp, even with a 25 sec exposure. I assume there was no wind, or your tripod is very sturdy, possibly with added weight.
Your long exposure flattened the water but also made the sky mysterious. One way to keep the sky sharp and the water sof is by taking 2 images, one quick and one slow, and using the quick one for the sky and bridge.
Strong directing lines. The distal area of the bridge is left to the imagination (a bridge to nowhere?)
Nice image. A keeper.
