Thanks Mervyn. This was in the early morning hours on the West end of a lake. |

This Kittywake is nice and sharp - great.
I would have a tendency to crop out the right portion of your image. If you want to keep the water (on original pict), I would tilt the image appropriately. I took the liberty of work on it. I also try to respect the "rule" of thirds. |

This looks like a Blue-bellied roller. To get rid of the fence, you could have put your phone much closer to it (in the middle of a diamond link)(if possible). With bigger lenses, this is more of an issue.
In general, it is easier to "get rid" of the fence, window, etc, if you get close to the obstacle and use a low f-stop. To take images through glass (like in an aquarium), lens "skirts" are available. Normally the skirt would have suction cups on all four corners with your lens tight in the middle of the skirt - preventing any light to interfere.
I find it difficult to remove this "out of focus" fence in post-processing. Dean suggestion can work. |

This image tells a story. These Juvenile cardinals want their food NOW....
Nice cropping + you were able to get rid of the tip of the bird feeder, allowing more space on the right of the male tail.
Non-competitive background due to the relatively short dept of field.
Nicely done. Great work. |

A nice image that works well in B/W or in color. This is a really nice gradation of the grays. Ominous feel. The Lightning of the trees is nicely done (too dark in the color version).
Lovely. |

Wow... Really nice, sharp, and colorful. Great separation between the subjects and the background. I also agree with the cropping.
A keeper. |

It really depends on the angle of the light on the lower neck. I was quite happy to see this "dark green shine" on its lower neck ring. Same thing with the head of the Mallard Drake head. Depending on the light angle, the shine will go from a bright green to a dark blue... Nature is amazing!

Hi Tami,
Nice image - moody. Beautiful colors and feel.
It is pretty difficult to keep everything in focus with so much fog...
Even if you use the Auto adjust transform, the vertical lines are not straight and even divergent (barrel distortion). If you look at the left bright building: as you go up, the slent is to the left but the building just in front and to the right (darker), the slent is to the right.
One has to be very careful with broad wide-angle lenses (16 mm).
The best way to resolve this issue is to make sure that your camera is perfectly horizontal when you take the image, otherwise, it creates a distortion that can't really be corrected in the post-processing.
How to make sure that your camera is straight: Look at your horizontal and vertical levels markers through your visor or add a 3D bubble cube on your flash horseshoe- you have to be straight on! Once you pay attention to your levels, you will have no more issues - and no need to mess around in post-processing.

Beautiful beach, water texture, sky, some water reflection, good cropping, and color palette.
The only issue for me is that the image is slanted. I did a 1.84-degree counterclockwise to straighten it.
Beautifully done. No other suggestion. |

Hi Kirk. Lovely scenery.
I think that having a little more room on the right and the bottom would be useful to allow more room for the bottom right cactus.
It looks like you were facing East with sun in the South in the middle of the day. Unfortunately, this will produce very harsh shadows. The same image in the early morning hours (or just before the sunset) would have much more of an impact, especially with the orange hues (Orange hour). I took the liberty in trying to decrease the shadows. I decreased the exposure and the highlights and opened up the shadows, and a little bit more contrast. (Always better to do on the original...). |

Hi Geoff,
Due to the reflections, this image looks like a collage. I love it when the Dolphins are following the boats, and sometimes showing up what they can do.
Using a polarizer would have helped but you were probably not planning on taking this image. Nice work with an iPhone.
Certainly tells a story.
Nicely done. |

Lovely scene. How and what to crop /out is always a question of taste. I would have liked to have more room in front of the Fisherman (or Fisherperson) instead of its back... You probably would have fell in the water by moving to the left... Maybe cropping out part of the sky and the fortress? I took the liberty of trying another version. |
