Wow…. This is amazing!
It would be very interesting to do a custom white balance with a «Â colour card» or other device, to see how this cave can affect the «Â automatic white balance » of the camera….
And again…. I really need to travel to your continent! |

I Geoff,
I agree with Brenda re saturation and size of this huge cave! I am not sure that I would have distinguished the 2 other visitors without looking for them. The tall "man" face is all red - my using "vibrance" instead of "saturation" would would have avoided this issue (some programs like ON1 would allow using "vibrance" with preservation of skin tone). (I normally use "saturation" when there is not "human skin" - otherwise I use "vibrance" mainly.)
Would also like to visit. |

Wow... Nothing better then being prepared for the shot! Hope that you were not hit....
This is a great shot, particularly considering the listed above limitations. F16 allowed you to have a sharp focus on the nest and the parent head. Even at 1/1000 there was some motion blur on the wings. |

Hi Jacob,
You get better all the time. by being fairly parallel to the flower plane the focus if pretty good. Unfortunately, by selecting on being on focus on the flower it impaired you background selection!
I agree with Brenda. I would also increase the light on the bottom portion of the image.
It is also possible to blur the background. or desaturate the background to help focussing on the flowers.
I tried to tweak it a bit with adjustments brushes. Always difficult when not working with the original. Just to give an idea. My version is not "great" by any mean! |

Hi Candy. Great image. To my taste, I would like to decrease the shadows and increase the background light (just a touch).

Lovely. I like you did but to my taste, it is a little dark. I would suggest increasing the exposure and/or the highlights + contrast + decreasing the shadows + decreasing your vignette + increasing the saturation. When I worked on it, I had some issues with the uneven background - possibly easier to correct on the original. |

Very nice. Not easy to get a clear shot! I am always amazed by how proportionally big their beak is at that age.
Lovely image. |

Thanks Brenda. These are so active!
This is warbles season here in Buffalo. Most of them migrate and stay in Buffalo for 2 weeks or so (when the Cherry tree are in bloom).
I will post a migrating one next month.
They are so cute! |

I agree with you. I should add some light on my foreground. Thank you for the suggestion.
