The problem with low angle is to get back up after! A variable angle viewer can really help in these circumstances.

It was a full moon! Wow. Impressive that you were still able to capture this star trail. |

I love it. The bird is very sharp. Your image nicely illustrates how shallow the depth of field is at f/8 when using a 500 mm lens. |

I love your image. Simple and beautiful.
As you know I also have the R5. I use a Canon EF to R adaptor with a control ring (I use the ring to change the focussing targets). I mainly use my EF lenses. |

Hi Jacob,
I find flowers to be a very difficult subject for photography. I worked on your image and tried to address the appropriate comments above. I would have like to have a different angle on the flower (from the top?).
Your photography technique is improving rapidly. With flowers, I am trying different angles, different backgrounds, etc... sometimes just moving a little to the right or left can make a huge difference. |

Really nice work Candy.
I find that the right to left image flipping as well as the texture you apply on the background really enhance the beautiful head and breading colors.
This is a good demonstration of raising photography to an art form. Perfect technique in addition to an artistic eye. Beautiful! |

Hi Dean,
Nice image and leading line towards the North star. I dabbled with star trails also. I personally like to have my exposures at 30 sec or so + stack 75 to 90 images. It gives shorter trails and a bit more filling.
Fun thing to do and will always raise questions when people are looking at these images.
What I personally find difficult is to have a leading foreground. Excellent work. |

I agree with all the previous comments. Maybe slightly increasing the brightness and contrast on the whole image and slightly increasing the saturation just on the flower could be interesting. |

Thanks for these constructive comments. I did reduce tremendously the brightness of the background already but agree that it is still bright (harsh light of the early afternoon) but I agree with your comments. |

Very lush scenery. I also agree that keeping the little bridge and the small family helps to realize the hight of this fall. With this type of image, I would probably tried to get a vertical cropping, allowing to view more the height of this fall.
You are brave to put your feet in this very cold water! |

Hi Frans,
I combine the images in Lightroom, apply a neutral density filter from bottom to top mainly decreasing the highlights and whites while slightly increasing the saturation on the top half. I then return to the global image and make sure that I do not clip the whites nor the blacks. I did not use any ND filter on the camera, just in Lightroom. Bracketing at -3, -2, -1, 0, and +1 also helps preventing overblowing the sun. |

Hi San,
I agree with you. When I take sunrise I normally bracket at -3, -2, -1, 0 and +1. -2 or -3 should work out well. Thanks |

Thanks Lamar. I totally agree with a bird flying in the scene but would be a little trick with bracketed images (unless one uses layers). |

Beautifully done. These 3 buildings are now very clean!
An interesting point brought forward by Stephen: Although I like to get the perspective right, I am not sure which version I like the most. (Next time you stay at that hotel, you need a room that faces the mid-area of that set of buildings... although... you might not get the same mirror effect!).
Nicely done, as usual. |

Very calming image. Beautiful scenery and perfect image. The water reflection is allowing the viewer to see the puffy reddish clouds. The image splits evenly between the top and bottom - very soothing with this mirror image in the perfectly still water. A keeper! Nicely done. |

I see nice puffy clouds in the field and cotton up in the sky. Very simple but effective image. Very nice guiding lines from the bottom right to the top right of the image, and also, an almost isoceles triangle shape with the base on the right side ending with the top in the horizon on the left. Very nice depth of field at f/11 with a 12 mm lens.
Great image. |
