Fantastic capture of a small bird. I personally prefer the original (with the mirror image) and the horizontal crop due to the ripples and the head direction.
Lovely background showing the bird in its environment. Tack sharp bird. |

Hi Jacob,
I agree with the previous comments. I tried to work on your image using LightRoom. It looks like the top left corner pixels are "burned" (might be possible to have more wiggle room if your original was a RAW file).
Once burned, the area affected will remain white regardless of what you want to do! (You can make it gray but there will be no details.)
It is difficult to take an image against the sun. Tricks: 1) If you were positioned a little lower, you could have that bright spot behind one of petals - this would have make your processing easier and tone down there bright highlights) 2)if there is no wind, you could have tried to bracket your picture (5 picts at 1 stop interval)(I doubt that you could do this on a iPhone). This would have help to brings details in the bright and the dark areas. Unfortunately, if there is any wind, it would produce multiple contours to all your subject (except the tree behind as it would not be moving).
Keep on the good work! |

Really nice. My only suggestion would be to remove the straight dotted line on the bottom right of the milky way - a flying airplane!
White balance is always a challenge but to my eye, you did it perfectly.

Hi Candy,
Very nice demonstration that nature is beautiful, even when not perfect. Nice lines, sharp subject and muted background.
We need to keep our eyes peeled to look at everything, not just at "perfect" things.
Thanks you! |

Very omnious on the right and hope on the left. The mirror reflection adds to the drama. Bringing the horizon to the middle reinforces this mirror image and because of this this, I would not crop further. |

Very nice angle to photograph these gentle giants. It almost looks like you were in the grass that they were curious about your presence.
I found the blade of grass over the right giraffe somewhat distracting. Great image. |

Thanks. Interesting editing suggestions. As this bird is hiding in the tall grass, the light filters through in streaks. |

As I mentioned to Brenda, this is a bird that hides in the reeds in marches. Difficult to catch - they just vanish as they get in! They are always on the move, bobbing their heads and beak in and out of the water as they feed on aquatic invertebrates (chicken like walk). They are normally walking in shallow waters.
Thanks for the editing suggestions. |

TIFFT farm is a nature preserve just South of Buffalo (15 min drive or so from my house!)
It took me several years before I could finally take a photography of this little bird that hides in the marshes. Another bird that hides in the marches in this nature preserve is the Least Bittern (took me 4 year to get a pict - was last year. I could not get a decent pict this year!)
Thanks for the comments - I was very limited with the framing due to the boardwalk and other obstacles.... I was very happy when finally some light hit his head. I did not add any light but mainly decreased the shadows. |

Hi Todd.
I am not familiar with these color wheels but I found it interesting. I tried to reproduce the colors as close to the natural scene as I could. I normally do not touch at the Temp and Tint cursors on LightRoom as I frequently end up with the wrong tones. My wife is very quick at pointing to me that the colors are not "natural". I prefer just to stick on "Auto" from the Camera or adjust for either "sunny, cloudy, shadow, etc.... on the LightRoom choices.
I really like the tones you created on your second post. Can you tell us more on how you did it?

Maybe as this is at the edge of the image. I am not familiar with this lens and drone. I am still amazed at the type of pictures one could get with these devices. |

Wonderful scene. Nice lines and composition. To my eye, I found the water reflection to ge a little too saturated.
I imported your image to LightRoom and used the neutral density filter twice (1st mainly to reduce the saturation on the bottom left and 2nd mainly to decrease highlight and brightness on the top right)+ slight brushing on the middle hill.

Lovely scene. Nice guiding lines and soft colors. Reminds me of the shores of Nova Scotia.
I would have like to see a little more sky. |

Fantastic image. I love your positioning as the sunlight was low on the horizon - slightly orange color?
Wonderful capture of the textures as well as the alternances of lights and shadows.
I am wondering if this image is very slightly tilted counter-clockwise.

Very dramatic use of a wide angle low down and close to your subject. Nice choice of setting. Wonderful dept of field expected at f/16 and a wide angle.
Wonderful capture
I can feel the water on my legs. Hope that the water was not freezing cold!
Were you by Vik? Another issue with these black beaches it that one could sink in this volcanic "sand" |

It looks like you essentially did a focus stacking HDR image with the foreground and background separately. I love your white balance - maybe a little purple but very soothing. The trees are very crips, suggestive that there was essentially no wind. (Did you bracket the images or did you did the HDR our of a single close and a single far image?)
Nice work. |

Interesting perspective that would be very difficult to do without the drone.
It looks like there is motion artefact on the top portion of the image - I would have tendency to remove that portion.
Funny to see the reflection of the cloud on the top left corner but cropping the upper grass would remove this cloud. Is the original large enough that you could rotate the image and remove the motion blur? |

Thanks. I really love the Morning Twilight and early sunrise... One has to slow down and enjoy the color changes.
I would have like to have a big rock or something else in the foreground but this is a very large meadow. I did not want the forest to be proportionally too small and I essentially divided the picture in 3 thirds (ski, trees and meadow).
