Belle scene.

Bravo!

my Comment about "nature" photography was a general one in case of submission in contests that normally have very strict rules. I enjoy seeing your very artistic modifications. |

Nice capture. I agree with the comments above.
I cropped more tightly and increased the luminance (decreasing the slight noise).
Great pict. |

I love the very nice mood you captured in this photograph. Your use of light and shadows is fantastic and would not change anything.
Wonderful. |

The focus is tack sharp on the head. Beautiful colors. His tail is not as sharp. I agree that at f10 you should have enough dept of field to include the head and the tail unless your focus was in front of the bird. The Dept of field becomes shallower with macro as well as with telephoto. Another reason for this slight tail blur is a very quick movement of the tail, but at 1/1000 sec, you should have been fine. As for the potential 3rd problem is your camera shake but considering how sharp the head is, you must have been very steady.
Altogether, nice capture. |

A very painterly effect with this modified background.
This is a male Anhinga during the mating season (as demonstrated by his very nice blue and green colors around his eye).
Interesting way to save a nice capture with a bad background. Unfortunately, these modifications are normally not allowed for submission in a "nature" competition.

Very interesting capture. I like this point of view and your attempt.
The snake is very sharp and detailed. I found the foreground a bit distracting. On the macro end of your lens, the dept of field decreases (even at f8) but you were already down to 1/90 sec. You did not mention your ISO, but I think that increasing your ISO would have allowed you to increase your f stop, improve the foreground focus and even potentially increase your shutter speed.
I totally agree that all these modifications can be difficult to do on the spot with a very short time to react and that the retrospectoscope is always very critical!
Nice job! |

Great work in directing these 3 Harebeests in pausing for this family portrait!
It looks to me that the main issue is the harsh light from the high sun of the middle of the day. Pretty difficult to ask them to keep still until the golden hour!
I tried to reduce this contrast mainly by decreasing the shadows and the highlights. Please find attached my version.
Nice capture. |

I agree with you. I would have normally use a much higher f stop. Unfortunately I did not have my tripod readily available and the colors were changing fairly quickly. I felt forced to open the iris to decrease the noise while not slowing down too much the shutter speed. Yes.... I had to compromise because I was not ready with my tripod!
Lesson learned! |

Incredible capture with an iPhone. The best camera is always the one available at the time!
I really like the almost monochrome and stormy middle and background association with the much lively colors of the ropes in the foreground. This is the classic look of the coast in the early foggy morning or during a light rain.
I like it as it is.

Wonderful capture. I love this golden hour with the multiple lighted and shadowy areas, especially on the right side of this photograph. It gives a painted feel.
I really like it. |

Very nice silky waterfall and nice anchor with the rock on the left side.
This fall is really beautiful. My only criticism is that
I would have like to see the upper portion of this fall. It looks like you were using a fairly wide lens and I wonder if a vertical capture would have included the falls upper portion. Another way to get it would have been to do a panorama stiching of a capture higher up and this one at the base.
Beautiful!

You are very lucky to have a picture of the tip of Denali. It is fairly unusual to get this.
I prefer the version of Lamar as it looks straighter.
Very unusual combination of ominous dark clouds in higher altitude with a much more serein remainder of this photography. The road offers a nice leading line to these peaks and also demonstrate the scale of this landscape.
Very nice.

Very nice colors, directional lines, 3D feeling during the golden hour. This is helping to increase the orange hue of these very nice looking pumpkins.
I like it very much. |
