I think I was just lucky. There must have been a nest nearby because there were several juveniles around so maybe it was a parent watching them. I did not do anything except be at the right place at the right time. I know what you mean though - birds are usually flitting around and simply won't "pose" where you want them. Actually, the yellow crowned night herons and black crowned night herons tend to me more stationery than smaller birds. Glad you liked it. |

Thank you! This was fairly easy because it sat very still. I have much more difficulty with flying birds or when they hop around and won't sit still. |

This may be my favorite one yet but I can't really tell without having them all side by side. Also, they are so much alike that I thought this one may have been entered before. Anyway, I love abstracts too. The thing I like best about this one is that there are more columns. The thing I'm not sure about is the 2 dark spots - one on the upper left and the other on the lower right. However, I guess they do balance each other. Now I think you should try some birds again. |

You got some interesting expressions on the people and the black and white is very striking. I probably would have straightened it but if you like it the way it is, great. It does add another interesting dimension with it being slanted. Did they object to being photographed? |

Wow - you can take portraits of animals other than humans! I love this image and had to go to my bird books to see about the "2nd eye" on the beak. I have never gotten that good a look at that spot before. It's a great image of a mute swan! |

Well-done and sharp. The only thing that bothers me is that the path leads to no where. Maybe that doesn't matter since it is such a well-balanced shot. |

I love how she is "looking" at me and that she is very sharp. I'm wondering what the red speckles on her chin and around the one eye are from. Now that I look more closely I see them in other places to. Glad you got such a good shot of your favorite cat. |

I think this is very well-done and sharp and colorful. Unlike the other commenters, I don't often take pictures like this because they never occur to me. Now maybe I'll take more notice of things around me. |

I should have included all this info. Nikon 5300 with a Tamron lens at 600mm. ISO 1250, f 6.3, 1/80 second using a tripod (can't hold that lens without using a tripod). I did a little post-processing but can't remember exactly what I did. Thanks for your kind comments. |
