48 Jan 17 Reply Bev, Is content aware in Lightroom or Photoshop? I have never used it and I guess I'd better learn how. Margaret Jan 19th
48 Jan 17 Reply I did wonder about those. One more thing to add to my list of changes (if I ever get around to doing them). Thanks. Jan 16th
48 Jan 17 Comment I usually agree with Hildi but in this case I have to say that I don't think it is too dark. He's black and if you lighten him, wouldn't it look unnatural? You could make it bigger though. You got him looking at you and he looks happy. I like the composition too and I'm glad what you see through the window is out of focus. Jan 14th
48 Jan 17 Comment Hildi, It's a great picture of the bird which I think might be a red tailed hawk (closest I could get when looking at the "Birds of Costa Rica" book). I'll check with my husband to see if he agrees. Anyway, you got the eye, beak, and feathers and they are very clear and sharp. The only thing that bothers me is how bright the background it. Can you tone it down somehow? Or, maybe you could crop it a lot so there is not so much of it. I was going to try it but I can't figure out how to get the image so I can do something with it. You must have had a long lens. Jan 14th
48 Jan 17 Comment Nancy, I love this scene and think you handled the shadows and highlights very well. I guess I see what Hildi means about being too blue but that did not bother me. What bothers me is that I think it is oversharpened. I'm no expert so I may be wrong but that was my first impression and it has stuck with me. Denali is wonderful so I'm glad you got to go and have some great photos from it. Jan 14th
48 Jan 17 Comment I like it too and it is too bad that not everything is in focus. I'm not sure how you could crop it to maximize what is in focus (unless you were able to use a circular crop). Also, there are a couple of dark spots in the middle which detract a little. Did you try several compositions? Sometimes it is just impossible to get a perfect shot when what you are photographing is simply not perfect. You did not say what aperture you used - could that have gotten more of it in focus? It's an interesting shot and if you like it, that's all that matters. Jan 14th
48 Jan 17 Comment Bev, Before I read any of the comments I thought it was a great image. I did wonder about brightening the eyes but probably would not have said anything had the others not mentioned it. I'm a poor judge of whether it would do well in a competition but try it - what do you have to lose? Jan 14th
48 Jan 17 Reply More good ideas. Someday I'll get around to working on it again. Thanks! Jan 14th
48 Jan 17 Reply Yes, I think that makes it better. Thanks! I was trying to leave the metal so it would be identified as a car but now I see that it doesn't matter. Jan 11th
