Love this image...wonderful humor and it is something I have never attempted. All three scenes are sharp, nice color, and show 3D very nicely. I think the main scene is perfect and it tells your story. I have never attempted to tell three stories in one image, so I appreciate your work in doing this.
Its nice that the two smaller scenes have one person leaning into the main scene...forming a connection...and its nice that the bride in the right scene stands out nicely in the white table cloth of the main scene. I like the heart motif since that's what this story is all about. |

Interesting ice fragments with the smaller pieces in front leading to the back. The image seems subdued with everything just about the same color and tone...and it seems to have a brown tinge. I find the sea a little distracting; if the image was shot from lower down to remove the sea, it would have emphasized the ice blocks more. Of course...if this was me, these are things I would figure out after I'm in a nice warm room and looking at my images.
It doesn't bother me that there is no sense of scale but I think there needs to be a focal point...something to draw your eye into the picture and keep your interest, like an s curve path through the gap in the blocks. But this is what nature presented and we take what she gives us.
I loved Iceland (was there before the big tourist boom) and your image brought back nice memories.

Nice nature story, Nick. Monarchs seem to be the best butterfly to follow in their life cycle...I never see a chrysalis for other butterflies and rarely find other caterpillars (other than the woolly caterpillars).
I agree with the other comments. The butterfly and chrysalis on the fence rather than on the leaves is a good way to pull the subject forward to our attention. |

Beautiful image! The colors are so intense and the light is perfect. The irregular shapes, so sharp and in focus, placed in a circular glass dish which allows the dark background to come through, makes this a beautifully composed image.
I love the story behind the glass cullet (word of the day for me). The site is undoubtedly gone and developed into something else but I remember those marbles too...have just a handful left. |
