Group Round C/R Comment Date Image
22 Jun 20 Comment Hi, I am visiting from group 32. I like the soft colors and the texture makes it look even more like a watercolor. No one has mention that the AVT is looking toward the edge and carries the eye to fall off the right side of the frame. I suggest that you reverse the ATV so that it forces the eye to stay in the frame. I think that you can use the tracks to fade out near the right edge and it then creates a nice diagonal to compliment all the horizontal lines. Jul 1st

33 Jun 20 Reply You hit the spot. That is why I entered this shot, to get suggestions. I am not fond of photos that are so over processed that they look fake, but I do think I can get more light on the house. As I explained above, the only way to get higher is with a drone which I do not have. At least I see some hope for this one. Thanks. Jun 25th
33 Jun 20 Comment This is perfect tranquility. Patience is a wonderful virtue that few have. The lighting is so soothing and beautiful. I would put it on canvas and hang it over my sofa or in the first spot anyone sees in my house. Very nicely done. Jun 14th
33 Jun 20 Comment Paul, I love this treatment of infrared. I causes the eye to go directly to the chair then the building and increases the feeling of decay. IMHO it is perfect. There is plenty of texture and the contrast of the pure white against the dark simply enforces the feeling of abandonment and decay. If you want to try and darken the right lower bright grasses and see how it looks, is the only thing that I see that could be tampered with. I like the smooth grass in the mid section in front of the house. It gives me a feeling of contrast between the clear good of the grass and the evil dark of rotting house and chair. Nice work. 33 Jun 20 Comment Marilyn, I love your framing of this shot of the Grand Canyon. I feel that it looks hazy. I realize that it is hazy there, but I don't think we should let it filter out a great photograph. So I hope you don't mind, but I experimented a little-well, more than I intended, but each step was only a slight alteration (mostly).
Here is what I did:
In ACR I altered the temp to +6, the tint to +28, the highlights to -100, shadows to +97, whites to +3, blacks to -13, clarity to +13, contrast +11, luminance oranges +22, blues -6, de-haze +23, vignette -23. I leveled it with difficulty. It is difficult to find a good level place to use as a guide, so I really just guessed. Cropped it and went back to ACR graduated filter -180 on lower portion from the bottom to the peak of the center sun lit peak. This causes the eye to move on past that bright peak to the rest of the image. I then used the brush to lighten the highlites on the water to +11 in order to increase its focal point call.
Don't feel pressed to like the different version. If there is anything here that you want to use, great. If not that is fine.

33 Jun 20 Comment What a great building. I love the "diamonds" on the building. They look like pearls. The variety of colors and finish is lovely and the surroundings reflect with nice hues. I love the sky. You found the perfect day, time, and light. Have you ever photographed it at twilight or sunset/rise or at night?
The composition is nice, focal area well developed, it is sharp and well processed. I can't think of anything else that could add to it. Shoot it often. It is bound to give lots of great images.

33 Jun 20 Comment Thanks, Paul for your input. I have never been to your area (much to my loss) and I can tell that you have never been to this area. There is no difference in elevation anywhere in south Louisiana unless you take a ladder with you. This terrain is swampy, low and wet. Why do I live here? It took many years for me to decide that it is not the hottest, most humid place in the world. Finally I visited a swamp and watched the sun come up. Breath taking to say the least. The Cajun culture is really fascinating, also very different.
But the real reason is that our pay check was here. My husband chose the job prior to us meeting and that was it. I am from Florida. I also lived in Georgia and then San Diego, California. I guess that is why this area was such a shock. But there are many wonderful things here and most importantly my children and their families are here.

The scene of this photograph is rather dark due to the wooded areas and I did take this in late afternoon. So I felt pretty much destined to PS light. But I do like your suggestions and will go back in late summer when the sunflowers are blooming and try different times of day. Fortunately it is only 5 miles away.

Please, continue showing me how lovely your area is. I wanted to visit that area, but never made it. The digital travel is one of the things I love about PSA and the groups.
