Bob, I guess that I give the "female" view. I like the dark areas because they speak of death and destruction, but the lighter areas of sunlight say that there is still hope and good in our world. I know that reads into the image, but I feel that the message of the image is of great value. I will admit that I may lean a little heavy on the message side as compared to the techinical view. I have to feel that the message still carries through in the black and white, so I do like both versions. |

It is so sad that "progress" does not respect those who have gone before. Of course I realize that it is because of my age, but I regret that our society has lost respect for many of the values that I hold dear. So sorry about the graves of your family members. Since most people purchesed the grave sites, it seems that the graves sites should belong to the heirs. |

Thanks for your suggestions. I do like the square crop. I never thought of that. The sky acturally printed out dark, not gold. The building looks gold due to the material it is built of and the warm lighting. But for the sake of the image, I do not feel that I need to leave it that gold. However I think it would lose something if I went to white. I guess that leaves the question of when is enough enough? |

Welcome, Dave. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. It rained for less than 4-5 minutes and then cleared just as we got to this street. I am finding that looking at other groups is very educational. I will look in on your groups. Thanks for your comments. |

This is certainly a beautiful secret path. This reminds me of the private courtyards in and around New Orleans. I love your term "oasis of peace", the perfect description of these places. The frame on the top and right is not straight, however if it is really not straight, I would tend to leave it like it is. I am sure that many would disagree with that, but I like for those kinds of imprefections to remain as they add character. The composition is interesting and invites the eye into the private yard. Very nice. |

You have some very nice layering in this composition. The contrast in brightness troubles me a little. Some of the light tan areas on the foremost layer are so much brighter than any other places where the sun appears to be shining, that they look blown out. There is texture in those areas, but it is difficult to tell what it may be. With such a lovely photo, this is not major, but just a little uneasy feeling. Overall it is a really nice photo. How woncerful that you can just drive over to Mount St. Helens. It is a beautiful and astounding place. |

These kinds of scenes tend to bring up memories for many people. The stories that these piles of rubble could tell always hit a soft spot in our hearts. You have captured the scene well. It is balanced, clear, sharp, and touches the heart. Well done. |

You did a really nice job seperating the clouds, mountain and the snow. I gave up on LR and use ACR. I have found that the four steps of going all the way to the left on highlights, all the way to the right on shadows, and setting the white and black points, with a touch of the clarity and contrast is helpful to overcome that "flat" look. I don't know that it would be any better on this photo, but if you want to play one day you could compare the look for fun. Very, very nice image. |

You certainly met your goal of capturing the mood. This is a lovely scene that is well captured. It is well balanced, has a nice foreground and mid-layer. It really draws me into the picture.
So glad to see you again, Larry. Sorry that you have had health problems. |

I had no idea anyone ever used an iphone to make such a beautiful photo. It looks like a winter wonderland. Your lighting with the rays is wonderful. Great job processing.
Thanks for looking in on my group (32), so that I could find this great image. I may throw away my full frame use my iphone. |
