I love the banter, so I guess I will add a little to it. I can't see any reason to change a perfectly good image by flopping it around constantly. Rarely, if it is a great deal of improvement flopped, okay, but I would not do that often. After all, I take a scene because I like what I see. I do not see things reversed. I also like variety and if we change everything to be left to right, we aren't applying the principles of art, but are just performing without thinking. Does that get me into enough trouble?
Finally, Paul, you have a lovely, peaceful, well composed, and well processed scene. What more could anyone hope for? I love it. |

Dan, I can see how this beautiful scene caught your eye. The suggestions made definitely give the eye an easy path to the mountain with the morning sun. I cannot not add anything to that. Nice work. |

Well, fellows, you have found my problem. I had found no solution so thought I would let you pros help me. I too love the fog and the cabin and the gate, but could not manage the tree. Larry, your suggestion of two photos is probably the best way to manage this scene, but I will miss seeing the gate to get to the cabin. Thanks for helping me with this, guys. |

Bob, you made the find of this decade. This barn is fantastic. I agree that the green is a little bright, but that is the only thing I would want to change on this photo. It is A+, #1. I want to go shooting with you sometime. |

This is beautiful, Larry. It reminds me strongly of Glacier National Park. I do agree with Ken that the mountain on the right is a little heavy and I think his suggestion of cropping is a good solution. I find that when I am presented with so much that is so very beautiful, it is difficult to cut anything out. But you did manage to select a beautiful frame. I am not sure, but it might help pull the eye away from right mountain if the bright streaks were softened just a little. Minor, but worth a try. Nice work! |

I have read that some images are more pleasing If the composition takes you from the upper left corner into the frame. It is suggested that is because we read left to right. However in this photo, there are several elements that need our attention. If the photo is presented upper left to lower right, I find that the light beam is so strong that I only see the bike and overlook the supporting elements. Now for your photo, Ken. This is a very different and interesting image. You have done some nice work on it, showing your PS skills. While you have done a really nice job, I think that I would feel that the bike "belongs" more if there were a path for it to sit on, or at least a flat area. Sitting on the large crack in the rocks, leaves me feeling uneasy. Maybe I am the only one who feels that way, but I feel that something needs to make me at ease with the bike parked there. You conceived and created a very nice image. |
