I like your composition of the rice grains (reminds me of a flower).
Unless your lens is completely parallel to the subjects, focus slices is really the best way to go. At least that has been my experience thus far. |

Wonderful photo Charles! Hitting the swap meet aka flea market is a great idea! Your composition is very pleasing. I like that you didn't separate the beads so that there is a little overlap between the reflections and the adjacent beads. Changing the orientation of the facet with the hole was a good idea. I am not bothered by the bright facets on the green and red. We are still able to see detail in the highlights (all those little scratches and scuffs). I can go on and on about what I've observed and like. I cannot offer anything for improvement. You make it look effortless. |

You have wonderful textures in your image Janos. The detail is well captured. Your choice of the non-reflective background was a good one. It gives me some ideas for future backgrounds. Your composition is also well done. I like the angle of light.
My only suggestion for improvement is to try and get all of the peppers in focus. The two little dark and wrinkled ones at the top of the frame are a little out of focus, but I can't criticize though because my image has fuzzy spots too.
I agree with Lynne; worthy of hanging in the kitchen |

I love the creativeness of your image. I am going to have to try this too. How much space did you create between the objects and the glass? The color choices are really lovely. My favorite portion of the photo are those droplets that hove above the spices as to create a nice contrasting background. I like the effect of the fading colors as you get towards the edges of the frame. I am a little bothered by the some of the bubbles along the edges because the cropped off portions seem to be accidental rather than deliberate. I'm also trying to decide if a few more droplets creating a more gradual transition to the edge would help. I don't know the answer. Regardless, I like your image. Nice job.

Thank you for your critique Lynne. I agree that cropping off some of the bottom improved the balance. I wanted to make sure none of the shadows were chopped off along the edges so my preference is still to make sure there was space around those as well (personal preference).
Sharpening definitely improved the image. There are still areas of softness that I'm struggling to avoid. I'm not sure if it is the result of the blending software. Can't be because there are not enough slices! Right?! |
