Welcome Angela!
Wonderful photo of the butterfly. I also like the B&W treatment because it makes it easier to see the details that are sometimes lost when the photo is in color. I agree with the other comments regarding the competing areas of softness vs sharp areas. I think that removing the blurred leaves at the bottom and behind the butterfly so that there is only the flower, the leaf that the butterfly is standing on and the butterfly would simplify the image and address the competing elements.

Were these post-Halloween treats?
I see what you mean about the post-processing clean-up. You did an amazing job with that. I purchased a piece of black glass off of Amazon that I have tried once with zero success trying to take macro images of granulated sugar. I also had an immense about of "debris" that would require "photoshop"ing out. Maybe using compressed air to clean off the glass ahead of time might save you some work. Just a thought. The gummy bear subjects are sharp and full of detail. Toning down the highlights was well done. You always do a nice job. |

This is a wonderful image of a mushroom! The detail withing the mushroom cap is nice and sharp down to the specs of dirt. I'm glad you left those in. I am also not bothered by the orange "thing" in the background. Your blurring and darkening of the background is done very well. It is always fun to see your images because you bring something to the table that is not seen here in the U.S. Nice job! |

I would never have guessed that this came from within a cactus. As you mentioned it is so delicate and ethereal. Your composition is excellent. Everything in the image moves the eye from the lower right to the upper left (toward the light). I didn't see "the hand" as Janos mentioned. I am reminded more of a field of wheat blowing in the wind. I also am not bothered by the softness of the image. It adds to the dreamy feel.
Overall, a very nice photo. Nice job. |

I agree with your suggestion. Moving the beetle up and to the left gives him space to swim. Thank you! |
