Oh My G___!! What a fantastic shot!
I thought I was looking at plastic fluid-filled ice cubes when I first opened the image. Of course I had to jump over to Amazon to check out the new piece of equipment. You're right, it is a bit pricey, so its landed in my wish list. Maybe Santa will be nice to me this year. What a fantastic job it does with capturing such minute slices. I am curious if you put the rail on its end so that the lens is facing downward to capture the slices. If the rail is horizontal, how do you prepare the subject matter?
Comparing the two images, I think you did a wonderful job cleaning up all of the specks. The "clean-ness" of your images is one of the factors I most enjoy in your photos.
I've notice in the past couple of months that you have moved away from Zerene Stacker to Photoshop for focus stacking. I'm curious if you have tried focus stacking in both products to do a side-by-side comparison.
You definitely found a wonderful subject. Maybe kitchen spices would make a nice series. |

My first comment: WOW!
Fantastic macro image. You have wonderful detail of the plane that includes a portion of the eyes, the space between the eyes and the space leading up to the fangs (I guess that is what they are). It would be nice to see if you can get more of the eyes and all of the fangs in focus for your next attempt. The subject is nicely balanced in the photo and the background is darkened sufficiently to eliminate distraction.
I'm curious if this creature is alive at the time of the shot.
Nicely done. |
