Wonder photo Janos. It has beautiful symmetry and color. I am not as bothered by the reflected light as I think it add some level of depth and it isn't so extreme as to be distracting to me. My concern with toning down the highlights is that it flattens the overall colors of the image.
My one suggestion for improvement is to clone out the spots in the black background areas (upper right and left of the frame).
This would be another fun project to try; melting sugar might accomplish the same look. |

My first comment: Love it! Love it! Love it! Your water droplets look like they were made of glass. Everything is so sharp. The detail in the grass blade is wonderful. I think the brighter background is a nice balance with the subject matter. It may have been serendipity but the placement of the water drops against the yellow rather than the orange part of the background was a nice touch.
I, too, appreciate your detailed explanation and "yes", I'm going to have to try that too.
If I had to nitpick something for improvement, it would be to remove the very slight halo around the bottom border of the lower droplet. |
