Hi Russel, This is one of my favorite flowers to photograph in the field. To find one that you can isolate just adds to the pleasure. I think that your lovely bloom would show off much better if you cropped down. The out of focus foreground hold my view before getting to the flower and I would crop to just below the stem. Including the 3 or 4 buds above the flower will still show environment. Let me know what you think. |

Hi Diana, How amazing to be able to witness this one day phenomenon . I do enjoy looking at this image. The high key background does work very well. You don't say whether you used a tripod as I find the focus a bit off. The sharpening of flowers is just so easy. I use Topas sharpening AI which is fantastic. I think a using a texture would also work well. I'm also excited to be part of this group. |

Hi Maria, Lovely, lovely image. Looks perfect for a holiday card. The hi-key treatment enhances the bottlebrush beautifully. Your crop simplified the image. The leaves make a great "nest" in which the bloom sits. You made me think of my old home - South Africa where these shrubs are abundant. I do remember enjoying photographing them. Great job! |

Hi Julie, What a win to be at eye level when shooting a waterlily. You have given this a dreamy quality with softening which is very pleasing. The background texture work very well. |

Hi Fran, I too love to get really close with flower photography. You have done a splendid job here. Getting rid of the green edges was the way to go and the vignette really works. I am really enjoying that you enhanced the center color which is a great foil to the purple petals. Your post processing gives a real 3 D effect. Well done! |

Hi Al, Thank you for taking on as the administrator of our group. I'm sure we are all going to have a lot of fun with flowers.
I do like what happens when tulips start to droop. It can make the composition very interesting. The shapes here are very pleasing. I think that your depth of field is a little narrow as the back blooms are not quite in focus. I also wonder if there is more detail to be found in the petals. I do admire your use of photo stacking and hope to learn from you. |

Yes, I agree that you have made it your own. As I said It certainly does work in IR. As you do have a lot of experience here, in your opinion would it work in color ? |

Thanks Henry,
I never use a blue tone, and don't know why it appealed to me this time! Maybe because it was such a misty rainy day. |

Hi Henry,
The detail you have achieved is exceptional. I think that your processing is just right. You have the ability to use gentle toning while keeping things crisp. Lucky with beautiful clouds too. Well done! |

Oh Emil, this is just lovely. The depth of field is wonderful. Adding the bit at the bottom was well seen. I agree that there is a white point missing which is easily remedied. The design of the image is great. |

Hi Palli,
I applaud you for showing us something that is just so simple. I always enjoy looking at cloud formations. There is devil sitting on my shoulder though - from one of our regular judges at our camera club. He would ask " where is the hero in this image?' In other words, where do you want my eye to rest? Even so, I have enjoyed it. |

Hi Gary,
I think we need to get over the idea that replacing clouds is a no no! As long as we are using our own clouds, I see nothing wrong with it. All the Filters we use without ever thinking about them changes our images in some way.
We all love to see derelict structures and this one is no exception. It feels somewhat busy to me and I keep wondering why we are seeing only half of the building. It feels like you should have wider view of this scene. Your choice of clouds sure does enhance. |

HI Chuck,
Ahhh, this is wonderful. I love the perspective, with this vast line of overpowering trees making the locomotive look so small. The splash of unexpected color is just right here. My taste also runs to muting the red a bit. Great job! |

Hi Jack,
The highlighted grasses against the more formal back drop is lovely. It may be enough just to darken the log, as the grasses look great against the water. The composition is well thought out. Another wonderful shot from you. |

Hi Arik,
The lion does look real at first glance. The IR portion is really beautifully handled with gorgeous tones. Well done! My question tough is, if this was not taken as an IR image, would it be considered a recording of someone else's artwork? As is, it sure does work.
