66 Jan 20 Comment Hi Gary, Making this into a vertical was the way to go. I love the very strong line the pathway make to the lone tree.
It looks to me like you put some kind of filter (more than a vignette) over the image to create mood, which has blurred out the base of you image, which is sharp on the original. I did try and convert myself but saw that the far tree was lost in my final image. Was one there or did you add it? If you did, that was a great idea. Bottom line is that for me, it much stronger without the vignette.

66 Jan 20 Comment Emil, This is a lovely scene, well worth photographing. You seem to have lost some of the details with your conversion. There is a sameness of tones throughout the image. I worked on your raw image, converted and added contrast. Let me know what you think Jan 15th
66 Jan 20 Comment Chuck, This is wonderful. Taking out the background was genius. The placement of the carins take me meanderingly through the image up to the arch. Yes, it could be darkened a tad. Jan 15th
66 Jan 20 Comment Hi Jack,
I, in turn like the sepia tones you have used. I makes it look like the boats are old and from a time long ago. I do agree that the trees are a little bright and could easily be toned done. I also agree that cropping off the top is the way to go.

66 Jan 20 Comment Hi Ernie,
What a fabulous stately rock formation. I love hoodoos. The striations in the rock are really interesting and leads my eye up, which is exactly where you want me to go. I am wondering though about the base which is not quite as wonderful, but fills half the frame. Would you consider a crop just above the small rock on the left? I do like your wispy clouds and that you did not let the sky go completely black. Its pretty cool!

66 Jan 20 Comment Thank you all for the comments. I think we all agree that color IR is interesting, but staying true to our IR roots is more important. I still will present some color IR and hopefully it will be more to our tastes. Jan 15th
