I really enjoy street photography, but am shy about asking people for permission, so usually use a long lens. By the way, when I do work up the courage to ask, the results are usually better. We are our own worst enemies! As this was a craft fair, and the guy was sitting still, I was able to get quite close. Lens was set at 105mm. And no, I did not ask! Might have been a whole lot better if he was looking at me and I had taken the time to compose! |

Thanks for the comment Gary. I had not considered sharpening, but your point is well taken. This is the first time I have been pleased with an IR portrait |

Hi Emil,
A simple, yet compelling picture. If only we could all carry some human element in our camera bags to be used at will!
I think the tree just before the curve and the strong shadow lines are enough here. Great IR subject matter. |

Hi Palli,
I really like the post processing on the tree stump. Detail extractor brings it right out and makes it palpable. The quirkiness of the teapots are delight and certainly makes one take a second look. I think that they would have stood out even more if your foliage was darker. I find the lightness competes with your subject. The tones are a little similar for me. Even so, I have enjoyed this image.

Hi Gary,Thank you for the post processing details. It really works. Since you posted it I have looked at it multiple times because it is so compelling. I really like that there is no border here. What a lovely tree. I hope you photograph it often. Before entering it in competitions, I am wondering about the central grey background areas at the "reflection" point. Would the tree stand out even more if they were darkened to more match the rest of the background? Either way its beautiful. |

Hi Jack
What appeals to me is the way that you have handled the tree trunk and leaves. The detail in the truck is lovely and the toning is great. I love the delicacy of the leaves which instead of being a distraction, as they take up almost half of the image, are an enhancement. This is no postcard image. Your crop is just right. All the elements are working. |
